Retreat from the hustle and bustle of the urban jungle in this lush, new dining concept in Botanic Gardens
History meets style in this brand new multi-concept dining establishment nestled away in the lush greenery of Botanic Gardens. The Garage, as its name would suggest, used to house cars of professors in the Horticulture Department of the former Economic Garden. We’ll spare you the history lesson behind this beautiful Art Deco-furnished conservation building, but let’s just say you’ll find plenty of reasons to whip out your cameras.
The Garage is a sanctuary; a retreat away from Singapore’s urban jungle and a chance to reconnect with nature. Its two offerings – Botanico and Bee’s Knees – offer guests distinct experiences. The former, a bistro, offers contemporary dishes from a “seasonality-driven menu” put together by Spanish-born Chef Antonio Oviedo. On the menu are dishes like lamb tartare, braised pork belly, cured and grilled Spanish mackerel, as well as surprises like the Ceiba – a warm chocolate dessert with ginger ice cream.
The latter concept – The Bee’s Knees – is inspired by the highly social behaviour of bees, and fashions itself as the ideal place for families to kick back. Pets are welcome, so even Fido gets in on the fun at this all-day-dining garden café. The Bee’s Knees is a place for guests to ‘bee social’ and ‘bee connected’. Of course, you’ll find brunch staples like eggs and waffles, along with house-made cereals, cakes and more substantial dishes like pizza and pasta.
Sounds like the perfect place to unwind after a morning stroll in the Gardens, no? Park yourself at The Garage, stat.
