Tokyo DisneySea guide: Everything you need to know

What to do before visiting Tokyo DisneySea
Where to buy tickets and how much do they cost?
You can purchase tickets directly from the official Tokyo Disney Resort website or authorised third-party platforms like Klook. A 1-Day Passport is priced at ¥8,900 (approx $77) for adults. Tip: tickets sell out fast, especially during holidays, so book when your dates go on sale, which is two months in advance.
How many days are needed to cover Tokyo DisneySea?
You can cover most attractions in one day, but two days will let you explore at a relaxed pace.
When is the best time to visit?
As the park is very popular, it’s best to visit on weekdays during non-holiday periods (late January, mid-May and early September). Avoid weekends and Japanese public holidays, since they tend to be overcrowded.
If you’re there in spring, you’ll see cherry blossoms and Easter-themed events. Summer features water shows and extended hours, while festive occasions like Halloween and Christmas offer special decorations, parades and exclusive treats.

How to get to Tokyo DisneySea?
Transportation options include taking the train, bus or car.
- Train: Take the JR Keiyo line or JR Musashino line from Tokyo station to Maihama station. Transfer to the Disney Resort line monorail and get off at Tokyo DisneySea station. It takes about 30 minutes to get there from Tokyo station, with transportation costs at ¥530 (approx $4).
- Bus: Direct buses are available from major Tokyo locations like Shinjuku, Shibuya and Tokyo stations. A direct bus from Tokyo station costs ¥730 (approx $6) and takes about 30 minutes to get there.
- Car: Paid parking is available, but public transport is more convenient.
When is the best time to arrive?
Gates open at 8am, but check the official schedule for seasonal variations. If you want to maximise your day at the park, arrive by 7am to queue early and get to the best rides first.
Is food allowed in the park?
Outside food is not allowed, but you can buy snacks and meals at various park eateries.
Is Tokyo DisneySea suitable for non-Japanese speakers?
Yes! While most shows and rides are in Japanese, the visuals and experiences are universally enjoyable.

Priority Pass vs Disney Premier Access
The Priority Pass is a free system that allows you to reserve a specific time to ride popular attractions, reducing your wait time. You can only hold one Priority Pass at a time until your designated time slot begins or two hours have passed, whichever comes first. This service is in celebration of Tokyo Disney Resort’s 40th Anniversary and is available until further notice.
The Disney Premier Access ticket is available for a fee of ¥1,500 to ¥2,000 (approx $13 to $17) for rides and ¥2,500 (approx $21) for shows or parades. Every entry ticket allows you to purchase one Disney Premier Access pass at a time, so you’ll have to wait 60 minutes after you purchase it to get another one, or until your start time has arrived – whichever is earlier.
How to use the Priority Pass or Disney Premier Access
Download the Tokyo Disney Resort app, link your park tickets to your account, and reserve your passes immediately after entering the park. It’s fast and convenient! Tip: timing is key as popular rides get snapped up quickly, so prioritise these early in the day. You can also set an alarm to remind you when to book your next pass.
Remember, plan ahead which rides are must-dos, and keep an eye on the time so you don’t arrive late for your ride. While waiting for your entry time to arrive, tackle attractions with shorter standby lines or explore the park.
