Organising your stuff can be a laborious and boring task. Sprinkle some character with these stellar storage options... and move away from everything plasticky.
Kondo this and kondo that. We’re all getting on board one woman’s masterplan to declutter and organise our homes. KonMari-ing is more than just decluttering (here’s where you can donate clothes and things that don’t spark joy). It’s also got a great deal to do with organising. Erase that mental image of stacked up plastic boxes, TBH it doesn’t have to always be so basic. Sit back and scroll ‘cos we’ve found just to the right things… stunning and functional.
For your bling
Say aye if you send an absurd amount of time detangling your accessories every morning. We’re ashamed to admit it but the thought of fishing out jewellery from the chaos scares us. Go wild with Decordinary’s eccentric line of jewellery holders inspired by lounging pets and woodland creatures, or turn to Scene Shang’s Arch Gate stand to turn wearing and removing your accessories a deliberate ritual.
For the wardrobe
Zipped up neatly, easy to access and dust-free, these wardrobe storage cases can be used to organise everything from lingerie to unused bed linen. Hipvan has a few moisture-proof ones and we particularly like this compartmentalised (and washable version and this printed BnW one for bedsheets.
For the kitchen
Let’s start with the refrigerator. First up: shop for your fruits and veggies using these reusable produce bags from Neis Haus, then pop them straight in the fridge for a chaos-free situation. Next: there’s probably a rule about this somewhere – if you’ve got cutlery, you’ve got to have a cutlery tray. Sure there are plastic options available, but look at this warm and natural Variera bamboo tray from Ikea made entirely of renewable materials.
For the home office
If your desk at home is as cluttered as the Download folder on your laptop, you’ve got to fix at least one of those two things. We’re picking the desk (only ‘cos easier and who doesn’t want a pretty workspace). We’ve got eyes for Kiyolo’s concrete desk organisers that are handmade and wabi-sabi in aesthetics.
For hiding miscellaneous crap
Baskets, baskets and more baskets. We’ve got a weakness for wicker, woven and rattan baskets that effortlessly add warmth and tropical x tribal vibes to our homes. Ashepa’s gorgeous B&W cotton handwoven baskets are ethically sourced from Africa, Living DNA’s elephant grass hampers with lids come straight from Ghana, Bohemian Singapore has one in every conceivable shape/size as does Greenie Genie who retails at Green Collective. Even Spotlight and Crate & Barrel have a collection.
Apart from seagrass baskets 3 Little Picks also has a few metal wire baskets in rose gold (yes, still obsessed) and gold. Ikea’s steel Risatorp basket even has a sweet handle whiles Style Degree takes it further with basket shelves that can hold anything from spices to toiletries.
