Soft Spot serves up Bangkok-born acai soft serve, seasonal creations, and a splash of purple aesthetic in Singapore.
The whispers are true: Soft Spot, Bangkok’s cult-favourite acai soft serve brand, has touched down in Singapore, and it’s bringing its signature blend of creamy, fruity goodness along for the ride. That’s right, this beloved dessert spot is ready to steal hearts (and stomach space) in Joo Chiat… and beyond. I had a sneak peek before its grand opening this weekend, and I just know the wellness enthusiasts and aesthetic cafe crawlers will have a field day at this Bangkok-born scoop sanctuary.

From Bangkok to Singapore

Soft Spot has been making waves in Bangkok since launching in May 2024 – its Thonglor flagship is a favourite among sweet tooths. I visited last year and instantly got what the hype was about: velvety acai soft serve that hits the sweet spot (pun fully intended, of course) without the guilt.
If this isn’t fate, I don’t know what is. It feels oddly full circle to see Soft Spot settle into one of Singapore’s most charming neighbourhoods, surrounded by pastel shophouses and cafe-hopping regulars. I was curious why the team chose to set up in Joo Chiat; they say “[it] just felt right.”

“There’s something about the energy here: the mix of local and foreign eats, cosy cafes, and a community that’s always active and on the move. It’s the kind of neighbourhood where people care about what they eat and how they live, which made it the perfect fit for Soft Spot Acai Singapore!” Samantha Tan, one of the local team members, earnestly tells me.
The Singapore outlet mirrors Bangkok’s minimalist aesthetic, but purple tones dominate here, adding a playful yet sophisticated twist. I like the quirky benches facing the acai display counter, which look like wooden freeform amoebas. But I’m not here to talk about the decor – it’s time for the taste test!
Indulge without feeling guilty

Soft Spot’s philosophy is simple: no added sugar, no preservatives, just pure fruit. According to the team, their soft serve is made entirely from Brazilian acai berries, unlike other spots that might sneak in syrups or stabilisers. The result? A bowl that tastes indulgent without the guilt. The plain iciness might take some time to get used to, but that’s where the toppings come in and make the servings shine.
There are five options, with the Softspot for Love (from $9.90) being a crowd favourite. It comes with the soft serve base of your choice, along with almond flakes, digestive crumbs, granola, and pistachio butter drizzle. The granola and drizzle complement the acai, lending texture and sweet, nutty flavour to the cup.

The signature I had was the Softspot for Cookie (from $9.90), which features strawberry, Biscoff and digestive crumbs, granola, and cookie butter (Biscoff) drizzle. I thought the team already struck gold with the pistachio butter sauce, but clearly, they have another winner on their hands. The cookie butter drizzle is sweet without being cloying – I had an enjoyable time finishing this one.
Beyond the classics

Besides the signatures, Soft Spot Acai Singapore also has seasonal options that take advantage of what’s trending in the culinary world. I dug my spoon into the Turkish Dream, a creamy concoction filled with pistachio sauce, burnt butter honey glazed kataifi, pistachio feuilletine crunch, and whipped cream. It’s essentially kunafa chocolate – but reimagined, lighter, and healthier.
I’ll be honest: I’m not a huge fan of kunafa chocolates. My first spoonfuls were tentative, but I enjoyed the pairing of the pistachio feuilletine and whipped cream, while the acai soft serve base made it less dense and easier to finish.
Soft Spot, strong spirit

During my 45 minutes at the new cafe in Singapore, I watched a steady stream of customers come in for their acai fix. Most of them shared that they found out about the brand through social media, and were keen to get a taste. That’s the thing about Singaporean foodies: we’re (mostly) willing to try out anything, even if only once.

My soft spot for the brand bloomed not because of the signature items, but because of the team. Their enthusiasm is infectious, and they take pride in their offerings and interactions with customers. You can’t help but root for them and Soft Spot Acai Singapore to succeed – and in such a shaky climate like our city’s F&B scene, they’ll need all the support they can get to remain afloat.
More than anything, I look forward to exciting seasonal creations and getting my hands on the nut butters, which will be sold soon. Pistachio butter FTW!
