From now till 2 January 2025, S.E.A. Aquarium brings a dazzling Christmas adventure with fun at every turn for the little ones and the young at heart. 1. Embark on a vibrant coral reef adventure
Set off on a ‘swim-and-seek’ adventure around the aquarium as you explore the vibrant coral reef ecosystem and learn more about its diverse inhabitants. You’ll be joined by Caleb, the adorable clown triggerfish who plays an integral role in the coral reef ecosystem. Beyond its unique appearance, this marine animal feeds on invertebrates (think sea urchins and crustaceans), which in turn helps to maintain a balanced ecosystem for healthy coral growth.
Local author and artist Josef Lee’s illustrations of the marine animals have been hidden among the exhibits so keep a lookout for these species and pick up fun tidbits about them along the way. Here’s a hint: the queen triggerfish, oriental sweetlips and whitetail bristletooth are among the featured species!
2. Catch Santa Claus swimming with fishes
Seeing the jolly man in red is hands-down a quintessential Christmas experience. This year, S.E.A. Aquarium is giving this classic holiday activity an upgrade with an underwater meet-and-greet. At 11.15am and 3.45pm daily, a Santa diver and his elves will make a special appearance at the Open Ocean Habitat. Planning to catch the afternoon session? Don’t forget your cameras as you watch Santa feed the marine animals. Psst: Keep your eyes peeled for a little Christmas magic, too!
3. Snap photos with holly jolly mascots
A heads-up: put on your best threads for your trip to the aquarium ‘cos there will be lots of photo-worthy spots. At 12pm and 2pm daily, S.E.A. Aquarium’s well-loved mascots Mika, Mako and Manja will be making their rounds for meet-and-greet sessions. Come weekends and public holidays, catch them at an additional session at 3pm. These friendly marine animals will be decked out in their holiday best so come ready with your brightest smiles.
4. Interactive fun for all ages at every corner
As you and your kiddos deepen your exploration, there’s lots more to be excited about. For starters, interactive elements and standees are scattered throughout the aquarium. This means you’ll get to pick up fun facts and tidbits about the marine animals around you as you go along the ‘swim-and-seek’ adventure! Oh, and rest assured the space will be decked out with scenic decor to bring the holly jolly vibes.
Make sure to stop by the Colouring Cove and get those creative juices flowing, too. Pick up the vibrant colour pencils and bring Josef Lee’s whimsical illustrations to life with your colouring skills. Got a budding young artist in the family?
