Indulge in a holistic wellness experience at Neau Beauty Bar, where a serene ambience meets rejuvenating facials in the heart of Joo Chiat.
Joo Chiat is known for its array of hip cafes and cool boutiques. Heading over for a facial wasn’t the first thing on my mind – until now. Before my visit to the newly opened Neau Beauty Bar, I took the opportunity to meander through the lovely Joo Chiat ‘hood until I was all ready to take a respite from the heat. As I entered the shophouse, I was enveloped in tranquillity, with soothing music playing softly in the background and the air filled with the calming scent of essential oils. ‘This is going to be a great afternoon’, I said to myself as I prepared for a blissful facial.
Founded by June Huang, Neau Beauty Bar offers a range of treatments and services from facials to body treatments, hair removal and customised skin consultations.
“I was inspired to create Neau by my own quest for self-care and wellness,” explains June. “I longed for a space that offered a holistic wellness experience for the mind, body, and soul – one where I could escape and continue to feel pampered and calm long after the treatment without the pressure to commit to packages or rushed appointments.”
And she was right. From the gentle limewash paint to the fluidity of the interior design, I couldn’t believe I was in the heart of Joo Chiat. “Every element was meticulously crafted to seamlessly transition customers from the outside world to the serenity within Neau,” she tells me.

After opting for a facial, I had a thorough skin analysis, which included 3D stimulation and skin ageing prediction, to show what my skin needed. As predicted, I had oily skin with high sebum and wrinkle levels.
June suggested the Revival MIT Facial to suit my skin concerns. But if you’re looking for a thorough treatment, you can try the Signature 14-Step Reneauwal Proionic Facial, a facial designed to refresh and revitalise the skin. There’s also a 30-minute Quickie Facial for a treatment in a jiffy.
After a soothing aromatic ritual, head massage and double cleansing, my esthetician applied a gentle peel exfoliator to prep my skin. I liked how my esthetician went around my eyes, which felt especially soothing. After some gentle extraction, my facial ended with an oil control mask.
Sip, relax, repeat: The tranquil Tea Bar experience
The cherry on top of the holistic experience was the Tea Bar on the second floor, with its selection of organic wellness teas. It felt like I was entering a hip new cafe – true enough, June added that I was welcome to stay as long as I wanted after my facial. “Our Tea Bar is an exclusive post-treatment hideaway where customers can take an unhurried moment to recentre themselves by savouring a rejuvenating sip of tea,” June says. “It’s the perfect way to prolong the relaxation and indulge in a moment of self-care.”
As Neau continues to evolve, you can expect more exciting developments on the horizon. “We’re currently in the process of creating our own skincare line,” June reveals. “Each of our skincare solutions will harness the power of white tea, celebrated for its natural anti-ageing, protective, and antioxidant benefits.”
To close our conversation, I had to ask the pro in holistic care for some advice. “Self-care isn’t just a luxury, it’s a necessity,” she emphasised. “Prioritise it intentionally in your life.” She suggests starting small and incorporating moments of self-care into daily life, like scheduling a restorative facial or taking a beach walk.
“Stay open-minded,” she concludes, highlighting the importance of exploring different approaches to holistic wellness. “It’s about nurturing your body, mind, and spirit for balance and vitality.”
