Have you been to Singapore’s largest nightclub yet? Here’s what we loved about Marina Bay Sands’ newest jewel Marquee Singapore!
Would it be safe to say that Singapore’s nightlife has been permanently altered? For sure! The second week of April 2019 was rather eventful with the preview of Jewel Changi and the grand opening weekend of Marquee Singapore. Yes, it’s the same celebrity favourite New York nightclub by the Tao Group with extensions in Las Vegas, Sydney and now Singapore. Of course, we went down to see what the fuss was all about. And here’s why we’re floored…
Marquee Singapore is massive 30 metres tall and 2,300 square metres large (what the what!) club tucked inside The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. It has taken over one of the two Sands Theatres, officially making it Singapore’s largest nightclub (for now). Think of it as an adult-only three-storey nocturnal carnival that’s extra AF in every conceivable way.
Chances are you’ve never seen anything like it (we sure haven’t)! It’s out of this world and we weren’t kidding about the slide and Ferris wheel either. In true Singapore style, queue up on level three at Sunny Slide Up to spiral right down a rabbit hole and land gently on level one. What’s a carnival without an eight-armed Ferris wheel? Each of the eight pods on The Big Q Ferris wheel is thoughtfully fitted with gif-making touchpad camera. The seriously fun photo booth will keep you hella occupied and leave you and your besties with tons of insta-worthy gifs. You get one slow and steady loop so make the most of it. Oh, and the view from the top is unreal…
It sure is an immersive party experience that plays with the best of design, tech and sound. The music and interior are great but we’re particularly fond of the audiovisual experience. From the moment you stroll into Marquee Singapore, you’re greeted with the grandeur and sheer theatrics of the space. The folks behind Visual Artform have crafted insane custom high def videos that splash across screens (the place is entirely rigged with them) energising each track and every party-goers. It’s impossible to ignore, much like the fascinating lighting and lasers and whatnot by SJ Lighting & Sound Investments. Sprinkle in some world-renowned DJs, special performances, great drinks, a crazy slide, an indoor Ferris wheel – you’ve got yourself a night to remember!
Be sure to expect some of the best and biggest music acts to come our way. The opening weekend (12 –13 April) saw DJs Tiesto and Afrojack with ASAP Rocky. And it doesn’t stop there – April will also see Steve Aoki, Above and Beyond and Kaskade setting the dance floor ablaze.
