Where to watch the F1 race
First, let’s get up to speed with the must-knows of the F1 weekend in Singapore. Starting with the basics: tickets to the race. The Grand Prix offers one-day to three-day passes, including luxe hospitality packages with access to air-conditioned lounges like The Vista Suite, Torque Lounge and Sky View Pavilion. Didn’t manage to snag the experience you were eyeing? Consider checking out hotels and rooftop spots in the vicinity. Not only will you get to avoid the crowds, but you can say hello to stellar views served with champagne and delicious nosh.
We recommend keeping a close eye on the F1 event schedule. Mark the dates and times for the practice sessions, qualifying rounds, and of course, the final race at 8pm on Sunday. The entertainment line-up also bigger and better every year, and you don’t wanna miss your fave artistes taking the stage. From American band OneRepublic to Australia’s Kylie Minogue, there’s lots to be excited about!
Pre-race highlights
Die-hard fans will know that exploring the F1 Village is a quintessential element of the race. Set for one day before the race, this Formula 1 Pit Lane Experience grants 4,500 lucky fans a chance to explore the village before the Circuit Park officially opens. It’s your chance to peer into the team garages, traverse the pit lane and more. Open to Singaporeans and local residents, ticket balloting starts from now till 31 August and winners will be notified by 9 September.
Eager for a taste of speed after exploring the F1 Village? Add go-karting to your list of things to do ‘cos Levelled-Up Racing at HyperDrive is here with an upgraded second edition! This gamified karting experience in Sentosa lets racers compete across a three-level track with thrilling straightaways and 14 hair-raising turns. Racers can collect gamified special powers like weapons and boosts along the way, and use them strategically as they charge to the finish line.
To compete in the race, racers have to purchase the Levelled-Up Racing: Game of Karts x Red Bull bundle and achieve the top eight fastest lap times during the qualifying period (now till 15 September). The finals will take place on 18 September, with a Red Bull Racing Garage tour for two, official race merchandise and more attractive prizes up for grabs!
As a prelude to the star-studded F1 season, mark your cals for the debut of The Asia Gala 2024 at Capella Singapore! Celebrating the best of Asian talent, this premier event convenes A-list Asian celebrities across music, television, film and more. Get dressed to the nines for an exquisite dinner with free-flow champagnes and wines.
Award-winning Singaporean singer-songwriter JJ Lin and South Korean multi-hyphenate Rain are also set to headline the event, with a line-up of performances from other celebrity guests. Sold only by the table via enquiries, packages are available in three tiers, including a one-night stay at Capella Singapore and meet-and-greet opportunities with the performers.
Day 1, Friday: Meet F1 stars, boozy brunches and more merrymaking
Friday is when the F1 season in Singapore will kick off properly and the top thing to do? Make a pit stop at the F1 Village to get into the thick of the action – especially if you’ve missed out on getting first dibs. Now’s also the time to meet your fave F1 drivers in the flesh at the Fan Forum!
On 20 September, the drivers will stage an appearance at the Zone 1 Wharf stage. There’ll be another chance to catch them on 21 September, from 3.40pm to 4.10pm. Participants must have a valid Zone 1 ticket so get your hands on one if you haven’t already.
It’s never too early to crank up the fun and what better way than with a tipsy brunch party at Lap 52 in One Raffles Place? Featuring a gourmet spread and free-flow tipples, the experience offers innovative dishes curated by guest head chefs from OUE Restaurants, including Damian D’Silva of Rempapa and Taro Takayama of Takayama.
And if you can’t get enough of the daytime revelry, stay on after brunch to party all night long! International DJs like Thailand’s Wildealer and Germany’s Stephan Bodzin, as well as homegrown talents from Ice Cream Sundays, are set to pump up the crowds from 6.30pm each day. While soaking in the beats, snap picture-perfect moments at the podium photo booth and get a first-hand feel of the race track at the F1 simulator.
To continue the merrymaking, make your way to level 57 of the iconic Marina Bay Sands for After 2049. One of the city’s most iconic pre-F1 parties, here’s where you can get your groove on while soaking in exhilarating bird eye’s views of the practice and qualifying sessions. This year’s headline acts are award-winning pop trio WhoMadeWho, and South African DJ and producer Da Capo. Don’t snooze on the tickets ‘cos we heard last year’s were sold out in minutes!
Day 2, Saturday: All-day revelry and exciting F1-themed events
The high-octane celebrations continue at Mandala Club’s iconic race party! Back for its second year, Mandala Mansion is an exclusive weekend party at an unbeatable trackside location: the Pool Terrace at Mandarin Oriental Singapore. Set along Raffles Boulevard, it’s a prime spot to immerse in unparalleled views of the race track and Marina Bay, while basking in stellar hospitality of the private members’ club. On the final race day, this top-notch location will promise a front-row view of the victory lap fireworks display, too.
Catch the thrilling action right from the trackside or massive screens, while dancing the night away with international DJs like Samantha Ronson, Candice B and RAAJ helming the decks. Need to catch a breather from all that raving? Switch up the party scene with a motorsports exhibition at Gallery26. Titled A Race Through Time: The Singapore Grand Prix Through The Years, take a stroll down memory lane as you dive into the racing history and its significance in our city. It’s your chance to marvel at iconic Ferrari F1 cars that have once graced Singapore’s streets, and a mini photograph exhibition by multi-award-winning F1 and automotive photographer Darren Heath. Oh, and admission is free!
If you’ve ever dreamt of becoming a pro racer, this might be your closest bet. For every $50 spent at Harry’s Boat Quay and Harry’s Cuppage from 12 to 22 September, customers will get a chance to experience an F1 simulator. This state-of-the-art racing simulator features an F1 racing game powered by Razer, Legion of Racers and Next Level Racing. And it’s not just fun and games. Make your way to the leaderboard and the top three fastest racers will walk away with prizes from Razer and Harry’s Singapore!
Day 3, Sunday: The big race, fun for the whole fam and one last hurrah
Now, here’s some fun that the little ones can get in on. We’re talking about Whizz Wonderland’s race-related activities lined up for two whole weeks – and yes, even on the final race day! Wildseed Cafe at Alkaff Mansion and The Summerhouse offers a race-themed afternoon high tea set ($68 per pax), along with a kid’s car race for the competitive kiddos. Over at Bee’s Knees at The Garage, the kids will be kept busy at a special racecourse play area while the adults recharge with good nosh before the big race at night.
It’s Sunday, and of course, our clocks are set for 8pm. But prior to the big race, we can’t miss out on the well-loved Drivers’ Parade segment. It’s one of the rare chances we get to see the smiling faces of the drivers (goodbye helmets for a while!), and we are so here for it. The parade starts at 6pm so get ready to cheer your lungs out and show some love to your fave drivers.
How can we resist one last night of revelry? The post-race celebrations are in full swing and we’re making Amber Lounge at The Clifford Pier our base for the last night of the F1 season in Singapore. From 10.30pm till late, it’s the go-to after-party spot and one of your best bets for spotting A-list celebrities and even the F1 drivers.
