Don’t worry if you woke up late – you’ll still be able to get your fave brunch treats with Common Man Coffee Roasters’ all-day menu…
Common Man Coffee Roasters is one of our favourite failsafe options for a casual Sunday brunch. But when you hear that it’s expanding its selection of sips and nosh with an all-day menu, it gets even better. That’s why we headed over to its Martin Road outlet to try its latest creations. Read on for our recommendations…
Breakfast all day
Rise and shine with the all-day breakfast, which is available from 7.30am to 4pm. We love pancakes and we love a good chilli scramble, so when the breakfast pancakes ($26) appeared on the menu, we couldn’t resist the treat. This delightful stack of fluffy goodness is topped with chilli scrambled eggs and burnt feta crumbles, served alongside crispy bacon – striking a delicious balance between sweet and savoury. The pancakes are light, airy, and oh-so-satisfying.
Brews we loved
Artisanal coffee reigns supreme at Common Man Coffee Roasters. If you’re a fan of a solid brew, you’ll be delighted by the new additions to its menu of sips. Its specialty iced drinks are now served alongside the new dishes. Lucky Me ($7) is a must-try for coffee aficionados to enjoy a refreshing pour brewed with the AeroPress method.
Giving coffee a miss? The iced chocolate orange ($9.50) has our vote. This rich, smooth iced chocolate is elevated with the citrusy notes of orange and the creaminess of coconut – all the tropical flavours that are fit for our perpetual summer.
New mains for your plate
Let’s talk about the highlights, with new mains taking the spotlight. The king prawn mac & cheese ($28) was a definite crowd-pleaser. Picture this: succulent prawns baked in a creamy bechamel sauce with macaroni, every bite oozing cheesy goodness. It’s comfort food that’s taken to the next delectable level. Seafood lovers, you’re in for a treat!
The grilled barramundi ($34) was another favourite at our table. Expect a perfectly grilled fish atop a bed of pearl barley and house-pickled cauliflower. Nutritious, savoury and fork-tender, what’s not to love? This was a simple yet delicious combination that truly let the barramundi’s mellow flavours shine.
Vegetarians would love the rainbow rice bowl ($24). Organic brown rice, poached egg, tangy pineapple kimchi, and crispy sweet potato chips come together in a riot of colours. Do away with the egg and you’ll have a tasty vegan option, too. If you’re an omnivore, top up for a serving of grilled chicken for added flavour and protein.
Psst: dine till late at Common Man Coffee Roasters’ Alexandra, Quayside Isle, Joo Chiat outlets, which close at 9pm. (Other locations shut their doors at 6pm.) There’s also a curated selection of all-day natural wines on the menu, so stick around for a glass of vino!
