After making a hit in China, Cococean has arrived in Singapore. This beverage chain, founded in Beijing with over 30 branches across Shanghai and Shenzhen, focuses on crafting high-quality coconut drinks and desserts using natural ingredients with no added sugar. A healthy and tasty coconut shake drink in Singapore? Say less. I recently dropped by to try the famous Rainbow Coconut Yogurt Smoothie, and here are my honest thoughts. A coconut cafe and a mini escape in the CBD
Stepping into the Cococean store genuinely felt like a mini escape from the city. The space was quiet and calm when I visited on a Friday morning, perfect for a breather from the CBD rush. The interior felt clean and cosy, warmed up with soft lighting. Note: the seating area is limited, especially if you’re planning to come in a big group.
There are power plugs around the seating area to charge your devices if you’re planning to work or study here. P.S. you can even rent a power bank from the store, which is very thoughtful.
My honest thoughts on the signature Rainbow Coconut Smoothie
The Rainbow Coconut Smoothie ($9) absolutely understood the assignment. Who doesn’t love a Paddlepop-looking smoothie? The dreamy pastel layers are naturally tinted with organic ingredients like turmeric, blue spirulina and prickly pear powder.
With layers like these, the first instinct was to stir it, but the staff told me to leave it and watch the colours slowly mix while drinking (spoiler alert, it somehow gets even prettier). With every sip, you get the taste of yogurt and fresh coconut. The brand uses high-quality Nam Hom coconuts, specifically sourced from Thailand, and known for their distinct milkier flavour.
Oh boy, the drink was packed with coconut goodness. It’s the kind of drink that feels like a treat but also a wellness flex. The brand aims to turn coconut drinks and desserts into something that’s tasty and actually good for you.
Try other menu items like the Triple Coconut Juice and ice cream
While I was there, I sampled the Triple Coconut Juice ($8) and coconut ice cream as well (from $5.50). Both scream coconut (as expected) but in the best way possible. Think ultra-cooling, refreshing coconut goodness flowing through your bloodstream. If you’ve tried a certain famous competitor, I’d say Cococean is definitely an upgrade. But my favourite is still the Rainbow yogurt coconut smoothie, as you get the best of two worlds.
If you don’t want something too tangy, the Triple coconut juice or coconut ice cream is perfect in Singapore’s hot weather. Coffee lovers will love the coconut latte ($7). Psst: They even have free beaded bracelets up for grabs at the counter.
Unless you hate coconut, there’s something for everyone here. Whether you’re popping in for a quick refresh, chill work study session, or just chasing aesthetic drinks that also taste good, this spot is worth bookmarking.
