Who is CJ Hendry and what is Flower Market?

Catherine Jenna (CJ) Hendry is a contemporary Australian artist. Her claim to fame is her signature hyper-realistic, large-scale artworks of still life objects, created with her self-developed scribbling technique. Some take over 200 hours to complete! Her philosophy centres on accessible art, embracing commercialism and playfulness. Flower Market is an extension of this philosophy. Hendry frequently designs interactive installations, such as Flower Market’s experiential setup. It’s meant to break down the barriers between the art and the viewer. Instead of restricting her work behind a velvet rope, Hendry invites the audience to interact, touch, and even take pieces of the art home with them.
What to expect: A different kind of flower field

With baskets of plush flowers spanning across the space, you can wander through rows of blooms and pick flowers to create your own bouquet. Ever since it was first introduced in 2024, Flower Market has made an appearance in several global spots, including New York, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, and Sydney.
As one of Hendry’s most viral creations, we’re already expecting long queues at the exhibition, especially when free flowers are at stake! You’ll be allowed one free flower to start your bouquet, and can continue adding to it as you walk through the “fields”. Some editions even have city-specific botanicals, and Singapore is no different. Be sure to pick up the Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim, the Raffles’ Pitcher Plant, and the Singapore Ginger Flower while you’re there.
More technicoloured fun after Flower Market

Flower Market will only be around for five days, but Hendry’s work will be here to stay for a little longer! Shortly after Flower Market comes JuJu World, the pastel cousin of the Labubu. It’s a fluffy bunny, recognisable by a flower covering one eye.
While details about JuJu World have yet to be released, we expect it s to look similar to its Hong Kong debut. Think a pink market-style exhibition display decorated with JuJu figures of all sizes. For the blind box lovers, there will be JuJu bag charms blind boxes with 24 colour possibilities. Other merch includes clothing and accessories!
Unlike Flower Market, JuJu World will be a ticketed event. However, attendees can expect limited-edition JuJus, which will only be available in Singapore.
