10 of Bali's best restaurants in 10 days
When holidaying in Bali, the hardest decision you’ll make each day is where to wine and dine – and that’s because you’ll be spoilt for choice. Here are our tips on ten fabulous places to dine on the Island of the (Culinary) Gods. Now we just have to find ten different outfits!
1. What would a trip to Bali be without a cocktail on a daybed at sunset at either Ku De Ta or Potato Head? We’ll let you decide whether you go old school cool or spud chic but you have to choose one from one of these iconic locations! Do both if you can’t.
2. Got a foodie in tow? It is mandatory to head to Mozaic in Ubud and indulge in a gastronomic treat unlike any other you’ll find in Bali. Choose from one of four 6 course tasting menus – we adore the Discovery Menu – and pair your meal with divine wines.
3. Spanish on a cliff top? You’ll find breathtaking views and some seriously authentic tapas at El Kabron. A few sangrias and – ole! – you’ll think you’re in Ibiza not Bali. But hey it’s ok, you’re among friends!
4. There’s something entirely magical about La Lucciola. It’s an oasis in the ever- increasingly busy Bali and we just love this place for a chilled out breakfast or lunch. Consistently good food, attentive staff, stunning ocean views and sea breezes that gently caress make this Bali icon an absolute delight to visit.
5. Oh Mama! Mama San! Lunch or dinner, either way you’re fabulous. We know there’s nothing really Balinese about this spot but the food is mouthwateringly tasty, the cocktails divine, and the vibe always up!
6. If a pacy, urban feel isn’t the speed you want to be running on then make a booking at Sardine for lunch or dinner and enjoy some of the most sophisticated seafood on the island (or further afield for that matter). The views over the pristine rice paddy are mesmerizingly gorgeous.
7. Rock bar, rock star! This is a must and we’re absolutely emphatic about this one! The Rock Bar at the Ayana offers such an awe-inspiring vista it will take your breath away. Sunset drinks with a 360 degree view from a cliff top is about as good as it’s going to get. Trust us.
8. You don’t have to go all the way to Claridges for a really good high tea. Enjoy your Darjeeling, scones and cucumber sandwiches joglo style at Biku. If you want to know what’s in store for the rest of your holiday (apart from even more deliciousness), book in for a session with the resident clairvoyant.
9. It’s Sunday, maybe you’re a little bit hungover. How about a brunch?! Head to the St Regis Bali for a truly decadent and sophisticated buffet feast. If foie gras, fresh lobsters and oysters, and a Valrhona chocolate fountain can’t get you out of bed, nothing will!
10. It doesn’t have to be all silver spoons and caviar. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with getting a bit of sand between your toes, flopping down on a beanbag, drinking an icy cold Bintang while listening to some cool tunes. La Plancha always hits the spot.
You won’t want this holiday to end!
