Candles of Light
Harnessing botanical scents from nature, such as spices, herbs, essential oils and natural aromatic materials from the tropics and beyond, Candles of Light has a small curated range of candles and recently expanded to room sprays and ‘scent elixirs’. Keep things light with the Dawn range (calming lavender, uplifting citrus and mint), get mysterious with Midnight (earthy vetiver, lush jasmine sambac, and notes of peaty smoke) and indulge in Dusk (floral geranium, earthy patchouli and spice). For a little bonus, get the Gemstone Candle where a surprise hand-selected crystal will be revealed as you enjoy its burn.

Fairly new to Singapore’s skincare scene, this homegrown brand is run by organic beauty fanatics who only offer 100% natural and organic products and oils, free of GMOs (Genetic Modified Organism) as well as parabens. Its Juicier Luxury Face Oil is a necessary addition to your skincare wardrobe (and was one of our top beauty buys of the month). Made with 11 organic ingredients, it boosts moisture, renews skin, relieves inflammation, and plumps skin with collagen protectors. Doesn’t hurt that the mood-lifting scents of lavender, peppermint and bergamot can be found in most of their products.

A Dose of Something Good
Founded in 2011 by Robert Upton, A Dose of Something Good is a Singapore-based company that specialises in making hand-poured scented candles. Here, they use the finest quality wax blends, hand-cast quirky porcelain containers (love the noses in their snuff boxes) and natural fibre wicks. As for the various scents of the candles, they are thoughtfully selected from a blend of the finest fragrance materials, natural extracts and essential oils. We love that they each have their own stories as well – copywriting win!

BeautyGet started on that all green beauty regimen for 2018 with workshops by Frank Skincare as you learn about facial oils for your skin type and perhaps even be game enough for an organic makeover.
Most of the candle-makers here started out just like this: a DIY project to create the ideal candle. Check in into a class with To Be Calm and bottle up your favourite scents into your very own soy candle.
Essential Oils and Aromatherapy
It’s hard not to be interested in aromatherapy and learning to blend essential oils but there is an art and science to it. Level up and sign up for classes on blending oils and how aromatherapy can help remedy and heal at various centres like Alps Academy and Soho Nature. Candles of Light also hold perfumery classes so you can have a bottle of your handcrafted scent for keeps.
