Pricing pro Anna Lamb endeavours to help businesses thrive by focusing on the value they bring to clients.
We love entrepreneurs and small business owners at Honeycombers, which is why we’ve created Launchpad, a comprehensive digital networking platform (with IRL benefits, too) that encourages connection, business support and community. It’s a privilege and pleasure to learn from so many talented and inspiring folks, so we’ve decided to share the love by interviewing some of the lovely Launchpad members. Looking for inspiration? Check out how Anna Lamb, the founder of Uplifting Value, gets it done like a boss.
What is your backstory and why did you decide to launch your business?
I’ve spent over 20 years pricing for diverse brands such as Lenovo, PwC, Harper Collins Publishers, AAT Kings (Travel Corporation), NCR and more. My working life has been in Australia except for two stints: as an expat in Singapore and in London. Both were to feed my travelling bug!
During this time, I saw individuals (especially females) undervalue themselves, impacting their self-confidence and feeling resentful. So I resolved to work on myself and help others truly step into their work’s worth. To do this, I asked myself, what if I could translate my pricing skills to mentor business owners? I wanted to help them focus on the value they bring to clients and achieve financial independence in an uplifting way.
That uplifting way was inspired by my experience heading back from Everest Base Camp. I was depleted and tired. I remembered vividly placing one hiking boot in front of the other to reach Namche Bazaar and civilisation. I was supported by a guide and a fellow injured tour member who cheered me on. The belief that I overcame my illness and made it down the mountain is the same belief I have for business owners. That’s the strength and knowledge to know what’s required for their prices and in turn – for their business to thrive.

What has been your biggest challenge so far and how did you overcome it?
When I was starting my business, it took me time to adjust to the entrepreneurial life and the lack of structure. I was accustomed to going into an office, chatting with colleagues, and having a weekly calendar full of meetings and activities. I was used to the financial calendar, forecasts and results. There was a massive amount of learning in this new environment and unlearning old ways.
After acknowledging that it’d never be the same in business, I created my own structure. That included not buying into the relentlessness of the financial calendar and connecting with other business owners through communities, which offer connections and sounding boards similar to colleagues and peers.
How do you stay motivated and energised?
I have weekly check-in sessions with myself and the business to ensure I have the week’s structure mapped out. I also make sure I connect with like-minded business owners regularly – even co-working virtually to provide accountability.
How do you keep stress levels low?
By committing to weekly reformer Pilates classes, guided journalling, reading and meditation. I go for walks or listen to a podcast to de-compress if I have a particularly stressful day.
Favourite places to work?
In my home office, where I can look out the window to stare at a pot of orchids given to me 15 years ago. Having said that, my ideas come from anywhere other than my desk.
Can you share a work mantra that you use?
“Be grateful for what you have and demand what you deserve.” – Abby Wambach
One thing you can keep talking about for hours?
Books! Like George R.R. Martin wrote in A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire): “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies…. The man who never reads lives only one.” I can ‘live’ a million lives through books. The ones that inspire me, I can talk about to no end.

Your go-to self-care activity?
Journalling. It helps me get in touch with my inner self in a kinder way. I know it’s valuable because when I can’t journal for whatever reason, I miss it and my week isn’t as settled as it normally is. It’s such a great tool to help you be kinder to yourself and to others.
One piece of advice to your younger self?
You are enough as you are.
