All about the Hong Kong team at the Winter Olympics 2022
1. Sidney K. Chu (朱定文) – short-track speed skater
The handsome flag bearer for Hong Kong in the opening ceremony, 22-year-old Sidney Chu has caught the eyes of many even before his debut on the Winter Olympics’ short-track speed skating stage. He is competing in the place of Sui Xin (隋鑫), who obtained the original quota for taking part in the Games, but couldn’t secure a HKSAR passport in time. Still, Sidney is certainly a force to be reckoned with. Not only has he undergone professional training across Asia, but he was able to enter the semifinals for the 2017 Asian Winter Games, and was the silver medallist in 1000m speed skating at the 2019 Asian Open Short Track Trophy.
Sidney will be representing Hong Kong in the men’s 500m short-track speed skating event at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Support him live for the heats on the evening of Friday 11 February, followed by the rest of the event on Sunday 13 February via TVB, China Mobile, or RTHK.

2. Audrey Alice King (金和曉) – alpine skier
19-year-old Audrey King may have grown up with gymnastics as her main sport, but she has demonstrated amazing potential as an alpine skier. Since joining the Hong Kong ski team around six years ago, Audrey has taken part in various world championships, with the most recent milestone being her finishing second in giant slalom in the Timor Leste national championships, held in Macedonia in December 2021. What’s more, Audrey is on her way to the prestigious Harvard University, where she will begin her studies this autumn. Talk about being sporty and clever!
While Audrey tested positive for COVID-19 on 31 January after arriving Beijing from Bosnia, she’ll still be able to participate in the women’s alpine skiing event at the 2022 Winter Olympics if she tests negative in time – fingers crossed! Catch her in the women’s slalom runs on Wednesday 9 February via TVB, China Mobile, or RTHK.

3. Adrian Yung Hau-tsuen (翁厚全) – alpine skier
The youngest out of the three Hong Kong athletes at the Winter Olympics, 17-year-old Adrian Yung spent most of his days training on the European slopes. While he grew up in the UK and was involved with different ski clubs there, he eventually joined the Hong Kong team. Since then, Adrian has represented the 852 in several major events, including the first Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games and the 14th China Winter National Games.
Adrian will be taking part in the men’s alpine skiing event in the 2022 Winter Olympics. Watch him on the slopes in the men’s slalom runs on Wednesday 16 February via TVB, China Mobile, or RTHK.
