There’s a lot of science behind sitting somewhere incredibly hot and then immediately sinking into somewhere very, very cold. But, essentially it’s all about recovery. Basically you’re jumpstarting the body’s recovery process, kicking your blood cells out of bed and sending them to any muscle tears.
Trainers at The Studio by JAB are incredibly knowledgeable and polite, so don’t be afraid to ask any questions. I undertook a 10 minute cycle between the Infrared sauna and Cryospa, alternating from one to the other three times. There’s nothing quite like lowering yourself into ice cold water, reliving that scene from Titanic and subsequently wiping beads of sweat from your brow. To some it might not be worth the psychological warfare, but if you lead a active intense lifestyle then it’s worth it. Afterwards it felt like someone had just hit refresh on my body and the icey horrors of the cryo chamber were long forgotten.
