There's nothing quite like a trip to the hair salon to refresh your look, so we popped into Salon Chandler in Central for a haircut, hair colour and blowout.
Hong Kong is a busy place, which makes it super important to schedule some time in your calendar to look after yourself. Whether you are working on your fitness at one of these independent studios, taking time to enjoy a spa at one of these luxury spas or enjoying a staycation at one of these great Hong Kong hotels, everyone always feels better after a little pampering. So, when I was invited to try out Salon Chandler, I jumped at the chance to enjoy a haircut, hair colour, blowout and one of the best head massages I’ve ever had at the Central hair salon.
Salon Chandler: A luxury hair salon in the heart of Central
Located just off D’Aguilar Street in Central, Salon Chandler is wonderful boutique hair salon that you must try. On the day I visited, rain was pouring down outside, but as soon as the lift opened into the waiting area, I was transported into another world.
Thorough consultation to suit your face shape
After being greeted by the friendly team, I was ushered into one of the private cutting rooms where I got to enjoy a tasty coffee as I discussed what style I wanted with owner Shayne Chandler.
Having had long hair with a close shave on one side for a few years, I was looking to do something a little different, and was more than happy to go short.
Shayne told us that variations on bob cuts are trending in the world of hair right now, “It is such a versatile haircut, with varying lengths, from short to a lob. Lobs and Bobs are here to stay, whether it be short, sleek and sophisticated, or longer, wavy, cool and edgy; both are surprisingly easy to manage.”
I had brought an image of a style that I was thinking about and Shayne agreed that the cut was a good fit for my face shape. He opted to start with a dry cut first, getting rid of my long locks before discussing colour.
We decided to get rid of my balyage (bye bye, blonde!) and figured that the new cut would work well with a dark block hair colour. Shayne suggested using the darkest brown possible to work with my pale complexion, and chose to use Goldwell Colorance to get the shade he wanted.

I think we probably all agree that one of the best parts of any trip to the hair salon is a nice long head massage. The assistant who was taking care of me was simply amazing at making me feel relaxed and pampered the whole time, I just wished it could have lasted a few more hours.

After my glorious head massage, Shayne cut my hair again before blowing it straight to show how versatile the new haircut is. He then created a waved effect in my hair and showed me how to style it myself – which is super important for managing short hair.
I love the exceptional service that the whole team at Salon Chandler provide. From the friendly email reminder a few days before your appointment, to the yummy coffee and the professional service when it comes to deciding on your haircut and hair colour, these guys know their stuff.
A week on, the cut holds great shape and I am easily managing styling it myself on a daily basis. Now I just need to find a live-in head masseuse!
