It's time to head into the great outdoors for a sweat sesh with these different outdoor fitness classes in Hong Kong
Everywhere you look, there are fanatics decked out in head-to-toe yoga clothes; new alternative healing spaces opening; and workout pros on Instagram garnering attention with their unique styles. And it’s no surprise that one increasingly popular fitness trend is outdoor exercise, with hoards of sweaty people stumbling and panting closely followed by a trainer barking orders to move faster, push harder and be stronger. When mother nature grants us a bit of a break from the heat and humidity, it’s the perfect time to switch off Netflix, put down your smartphone and get out into nature for that #sweatsesh. Check out these outdoor fitness classes in Hong Kong.
Outdoor fitness classes in Hong Kong that we love
1. November Project
More and more fitness is about community, especially with the case of this free workout group that meets up to two times a week. Their motto that ‘everyone is welcome’, dispels the excuse that you aren’t fit enough to join – it’s encouraged to show up with an open mind and a willing body.
There is a lot of high fiving and expect to be encouraged by not only the coaches but by your fellow sweat buddies.
Typically classes are held at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park in Sai Ying Pun on Wednesday mornings with their Friday classes in varied locations. No sign up is required but you can check out the action at @novemberprojecthk.
2. Primal Fit
Every class is different at Primal Fit. Not only does head coach, Ian Colley, utilise the outdoor environment to challenge clients but incorporates equipment like kettlebells, TRX and battle ropes (to name a few) to provide a complete body workout.
Those starting out their fitness journey are welcome, with all exercises modified to all abilities. The team ensure that they infuse fun and humour to get you through all of the challenges.
Group and personal training sessions are available. @primalfithk
3. Outdoor Fitness
Representing the fit community on the other side of the pond is Dayle, who offers a wide range of classes such as Bootcamp/ TRX, Aqua Fit and Box Fit classes in the beautiful outdoor surroundings of Sai Kung. Hailing from South Africa, it is there that her passion for an outdoor lifestyle began and remains the heart and soul of what Outdoor Fitness is all about.
The company started in 2012 and has gained a loyal following and even hosted retreats in Thailand. Get fit and fab all year round at these outdoor fitness classes in Hong Kong. @outdoorfitnesssk
4. Sunday Shred
Leading the charge, founder Jason Sinarwi wanted to create a safe workout space for those who were intimidated by big gyms, long term contracts, pricey gym fees and aggressive sales reps. “A large inspiration behind Sunday Shred being outdoors is that we spend so much of our working week indoors that the sights, the smells, the sounds, the air, all do something good to the mind and the body.”
Often mixing body weight bootcamp style exercises with some meditation and stretching, you can join one of their Tamar Park classes via their Instagram page: @sundayshredhk.
