Mido Cafe

Mido Cafe is a Hong Kong institution. This old-school cha chaan teng (local tea house) has been around since the 1950s, and once you step in you’ll feel like you’re transported back into time. Admire their lovely vintage mosaic tiles and then slip into one of their retro booths. First-timers must order their famous French Toast and HK Milk Tea. If it’s something savoury you’re after, try their signature baked spare rib with tomato sauce that comes with a crispy fried egg and buttered rice. It’s one of the most authentic Hong Kong-style cafes in Yau Ma Tei, and we love it.

cafe aout

cafe aout is a little slice of French heaven tucked away on Nanking Street. The cafe does the best crepes we’ve had in town, and it doesn’t hurt that they know a thing or two about great coffee. Savoury crepes come in fine yet comforting flavours like warm goat cheese and honey; and bacon mushroom and blue cheese cream. For the sweet toothed, buttery crepes with dark chocolate and orange yuzu jam spread are there to satisfy your cravings, and you can never go wrong with the classic brown sugar and cinnamon.
