From tteokbokki to naengmyeon, indulge in your favourite K-dishes at these Korean restaurants in Hong Kong.
It’s no secret that the Korean Wave has been taking the world by storm over the last few decades – and the 852 certainly hasn’t been spared from K-fever! But while the flawless skincare, hip fashion, and chilling thriller films of the peninsula have all definitely come into vogue, no aspect of Korean culture has exploded in popularity quite like the food. Thankfully, you won’t have to fly all the way over to Seoul for some quality kimchi when you live in a food haven like our city. So to get you started, here are some of our favourite Korean restaurants in Hong Kong.

1. Busan Night
You won’t need to take a train to Busan when you can just jaunt over to the heart of Soho and snag a table at Busan Night! A vibrant eatery reminiscent of a lively Busan pub, you’ll be having a dining (and drinking) experience like the Koreans. With a menu chock-full of regional favourites like Korean Army Stew, Bibim Noodle, Kimbap, and more, you can stop by for anything from an express Central lunch to an extensive spread for a friends’ night out. Additionally, along with the prime drinking menu of plain or flavoured soju, Cass beer, soju cocktails, and more, Busan Night also takes karaoke reservations to level up your Korean night out. Don’t forget to kick off the meal with a soju bomb!

2. Samso Korean Restaurant
What this smaller, family-run, Korean restaurant in Hong Kong may lack in size – it more than makes up for in flavour. Evoking the homey vibes of a meal prepared lovingly by a seasoned ajumma, Samso Korean Restaurant serves up all the usual suspects and more of the beloved cuisine, like Kimchi Stew, Bibimbap, and Pork Trotter. A highlight of the menu is the Samso Set, perfect for a cosy date night over a portable grill full of Scallion Pork Belly cooked to perfection by your server.

3. Moyo
If you’re up for a little more style and fusion with your Korean food, head to the bustling streets of Central for a meal at Moyo. At this modern Korean bistro, you’ll find a bevy of classic dishes as well as a few with a bit of a twist (not to mention your fair share of Korean spirits like makgeolli). In addition to dishes like Moyo Bossam, Bulgogi, and Korean Fried Chicken, you also have Carbonara Rice Cakes, Not Regular Bibimbap, and Hangover Moyo Ramen. What’s more, if you’re in the mood for a more casual Moyo experience, the same delicious food is served up at Basehall 02!

4. Samsam
Although the menu at Samsam features many Korean dishes such as Deep Fried Dumplings, Samsam Clear Noodle Soup, Pork Belly, and more – the shining star is without a doubt the gamjatang. One of the few Korean restaurants in Hong Kong where you find this soul-warming, potatoes and pork back bone-laden stew in all its glory, Samsam is guaranteed to fill you up with this ultimate comfort food. Available with clear or spicy broth, you can keep adding as much pork bones, potatoes, or noodles that your stomach can handle. Frequently boasting a line outside the door ever since its opening in early 2024, this TST spot is not to be overlooked.

5. Obp
Old Bailey Pocha brings the lively Korean drinking house experience to the streets (technically an alleyway) of Central. While you’ll have to actively seek out this sooljip tucked in an alleyway behind Old Bailey Street, this walk-in only joint is definitely worth the sidequest. Along with the endless bottles of soju, makgeolli, and spirits, Obp has more than enough hearty and tasty dishes to keep you happily tipsy. If you’re just popping in for some bites along with your alcohol, the Beef Tartare, Boneless Fried Chicken, or Galbi Dumplings will keep you satisfied. When you’re going for a full meal, the Seafood Pancake, Short-Rib Platter, and Spicy Army Stew are perfect to share amongst a boisterous group.

6. Jeonpo Meat Shop
Quickly becoming a local favourite for Korean BBQ in the city, Jeonpo Meat Shop is slowly popping up on more streets across Hong Kong. A no-frills BBQ joint serving authentic Korean eats, generous plates of pork and beef are grilled tableside by friendly servers. In addition to piping hot bites of Short Ribs, Pork Neck, and more, we definitely can’t get enough of the Steamed Eggs, Spicy Buckwheat Noodles, and Pajeon. Parasite fans will be especially pleased that Jeonpo Meat Shop offers its version of the notorious Chapaguri dish.

7. Seoul Noodles
A reliable chain for incredible Korean knife-cut noodles across Hong Kong, Seoul Noodles is only getting hotter since its introduction to the city in early 2024. In addition to the wonderfully al-dente noodle dishes, classic Korean fare like Kimchi Dumplings, Mini Kimbap, and Busan Pork Rice Soup are also on the menu. While we always love the Bibim Noodle, the hand-kneaded noodles shine in everything from the Clams Noodle to the Redbean Noodle. With Seoul Noodles’ hot streak, the city’s ramen joints better watch their backs!
