Hong Kong is packed full of fine dining restaurants, new cafes and fun bars with exceptional happy hours, and because we’re always trying to hunt down the best food spots in Hong Kong, we jumped at the chance to try Aziza in Kennedy Town. Find out what we thought about the Egyptian and Mediterranean cuisine below.
Aziza in Kennedy Town
A family business, Aziza is a small and welcoming homestyle restaurant that specialises in creating delicious dishes from Egypt and surrounding areas. This is the kind of place that you want to go with friends for a catch up over hearty food that is made with love, plus it’s affordable. Yay for Aziza!
Tell us about the food…
Ok. Well, the menu is split into cold and warm mezze dishes that start from around $30 and are meant for sharing. We opted for baba ganoush, pita and tabbouleh from the cold section, and also tried the homemade falafel and the warm halloumi salad.
Every single dish that came to the table was extraordinary. Super creamy eggplanty baba ganoush, tabouleh that had the perfect blend of parsley and tomato, crispy falafels and who doesn’t love a bit of squidgy halloumi?!
For a main, we shared a fish tagine with couscous which was so good. Packed full of spices, it had a bit of heat on it and blended peppers and other vegetables with lovely chunks of soft fish. Mixed with the couscous, it was the perfect thing for a cold winter’s night.
We also partook in some authentic fresh mint tea which is always a nice accompaniment to Egyptian food.
Will we go back?
Yes, yes, yes! This is a great spot to take vegans, vegetarians and omnivores, and the friendly service is an added bonus. Do yourself a favour and get along to Aziza ASAP.
And P.S. they’re opening another restaurant in Sai Ying Pun soon too, so stay tuned!
