And while we love Bali’s never-ending collection of kid-friendly hotels and resorts, sometimes we want to up the privacy (and the glam-factor!) with one of Bali’s very best family-friendly villas.
So strap in for the fun ride, because we enlisted fellow Mum and resident expat, Rebecca Foreman, to put together the ultimate list of family-friendly villas in Bali. She’s found all the hottest holiday rentals in the most hip and happenin’ Bali ‘hoods, all designed to keep the kiddos (of all ages) happy and entertained.
Think tree-houses, bouncy castles, trampolines, basketball hoops, decked-out cinema rooms, plus so much more. Canggas, The Gu, Kangoo – whatever you call it, Canggu is a rocking neighbourhood for absolutely everyone. It’s where the very best of Bali blends together, forming an eclectic ‘hood filled with expat families, tourists and funsters from all over the world. It’s a place where beach bars throng and the surf never disappoints – a mecca for anyone wanting a holiday filled with unlimited family action. There’s also no end to the number of “Mummy & Me” spas, perfectly poised around uber-cool family-friendly restaurants to shake up the taste buds.
1. Villa JOJU – five bedrooms
Mums and Dads, it doesn’t get much more family-friendly than at Villa JOJU. This family sanctuary is an enormous villa purpose-built for little ones and young travellers – especially for families with infants or those under 10 years of age. There are four king-sized bedrooms and one specially designed kids bedroom (accessible through the master room) containing six awesome bunk beds. And the best bit? For larger groups/extended families, there’s another four bedrooms in the adjoining Villa JOJU Alit, right next door. And the kids’ amenities are truly endless. Baby monitors, cots and a pool fence re available to hire, and they have an abundance of pool toys to keep everyone occupied in splashy land. 2. Villa Marang – six bedrooms
Calling all colonial-style interior lovers – this is the family villa for you! A mere 500 meters from fisherman’s beach, Nelayan, and a short trot to Old Mans beach bar, this six bedroom (12 pax) family home, Villa Marang, is everything you could wish for and more. The super-duper high ceilings allow for space and light in abundance, in perfect combination with that uber on-trend Hamptons white-and-blue beach house vibe.
