5 things to eat this weekend
Show your support for sustainably sourced seafood as Singapore’s inaugural Sustainable Seafood Festival kicks off this weekend! Other treats this week include a new summer menu from one of our favourite Italian spots, Japanese-French fusion fare, and more!
#1 – The Right Catch at Sustainable Seafood Festival
The week-long Sustainable Seafood Festival (8-15 June) will see over 32 top-nosh restaurants offering exclusive menus prepared with sustainably sourced seafood. Dig into innovative creations like salmon tartar with watermelon, marjoram, and raspberries vinaigrette at il Cielo, or go all-out with a six-course degustation menu at Absinthe Restaurant Francais.
#2 – Flavours of Summer at Truffle Gourmet
Showcasing ‘The King of Vegetables’, the white asparagus, Truffle Gourmet’s new seasonal menu will present delicate dishes like half-cooked breaded egg served on a bed of grilled white asparagus, handmade Tajarin pasta with San Diele ham, zucchini flower, and lemon zest, white asparagus risotto, and way more. Act fast, this summer menu is only available till 28 June!
#3 – Japanese- French fusion at Lewin Terrace
This Fort Canning fine dining gem has launched a fresh a-la carte menu with refined creations like dragonfruit carpaccio, wagyu toubanyaki (beef tenderloin with béarnaise and marsala sauce), challan duck sumibiyaki with eggplant, Japanese leek, and 25-year balsamic vinegar – just to name a few. We highly recommend going for wine pairing, Chef Sommelier Mr Daisuke Kawai provides impeccable pairings with wines from the restaurant’s remarkable wine cellar.
#4 – Grilled Cuts at Hippopotamus
It’s all about the love of meat at Hippopotamus, and like-minded carnivores will have a feast with Hippopotamus’s spruced up menu. Chow on the mouth-watering wagyu hanger or wagyu flank steak, or try their pan-fried sole fish dish. Save space for dessert because you’ll definitely want to order up their new Nutella French toast.
#5 – Go Sweet and Savoury at Au Chocolat
Although technically not available on weekends, we couldn’t resist sharing with you Au Chocolat’s GSS promotions (available till 27 July). Enjoy 1-for-1 pastas on Mondays, truffle fries at $10++ per portion on Tuesdays, 50% off finger food on Wednesdays, 1-for-1 crepes on Thursdays, and Au Chocolat’s high tea set at only $28++ on Fridays. We’re sold!
