Shilla Beauty Loft at Changi Airport Terminal 3’s departure hall offers facials and makeovers by skincare brands like SK-II. Bad skin while travelling begone!
Going on a short trip or a luxurious holiday may be the best way to recharge for most, but the process of planning a vacation and catching a flight out, more often than not, leaves me feeling and looking like something the cat dragged in. And it only gets worse when I’m finally on the plane – the dry cabin air sucks the moisture out of my skin, which is why I never travel without my heavy-duty skincare lifesavers.
That said, imagine my excitement (and relief) when I discovered that Shilla Beauty Loft, a beauty and skincare duplex at Changi Airport Terminal 3’s departure hall, actually provides skincare treatments for travellers on top of retailing products from premium beauty brands such as SK-II. Heaven! And what’s more, this beauty mecca is celebrating its first anniversary this month with exclusive services from these brands, one of it being the R.N.A.Power Eye Massage at SK-II PITERA™ Lounge.

Located on the second floor of the store, the SK-II PITERA™ Lounge is a cosy and discreet space with a spacious spa room hidden behind the counter, complete with amenities like a hairdryer, SK-II beauty products and even a selection of perfumes if you need some sprucing up after your treatment. With less than five hours of sleep the night before, I arrived for my appointment barely functional with eye bags and dark circles in tow. My session started with the signature PITERA™ Essential Facial ($95), a 45-minute treatment that incorporates the brand’s best-selling Facial Treatment Essence (a PITERA™ product said to encourage the renewal cycle of the skin) in a deep-cleansing routine. My face was gently exfoliated with the Facial Treatment Clear Lotion and later slathered in Facial Treatment Repair C serum, made of a concentrated solution of PITERA™ and hyaluronic acid, which promises a deep-hydrating effect. The therapist had her work cut out for her – besides puffy eyes, I also had a stiff neck and back from hunching over my laptop earlier. She worked the knots around my shoulders with a short massage and, boy, did it hit all the right spots!
Moving on to where I needed help the most: my sleep-deprived eyes. The therapist began the 20-minute R.N.A.Power Eye Massage ($45) by working the R.N.A.Power Eye Cream around my eye contours with a magnetic wand, which apparently enhances the absorption of the product that, in turn, is said to reduce sagging and the appearance of fine lines. The entire process for my facial and eye massage ended with a facial treatment mask and an eye mask for an extra moisturising boost, before finishing with a head and back massage.
The result? My peepers felt more refreshed and the area underneath my eyes looked considerably less puffy. True to its claim, the PITERA™ Essential Facial’s deep-moisturising effect kept my complexion smooth and supple for the next two days – I would recommend a combination of both treatments for long-haul flights, so you’ll arrive at your destination looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.
But if you’ve only got an hour to spare, SK-II PITERA™ Lounge also offers quick 15-minute options for services like the Express Aura Boost ($40), a light massage treatment which helps cleanse and brighten the skin or the Anti-Stress Therapy ($25), an express head and neck massage with jojoba oil. For a full list of treatments, check out their website.
The R.N.A.Power Eye Massage is available from now ‘til 31 December 2016. Advanced bookings are preferred and can be made at [email protected].
