The new Sinpopo Brand Orchard outlet retains the charm of its former Katong location while serving up affordable set lunches, high tea, and local dishes with a contemporary twist.
So you’ve probably heard the news by now… Sinpopo Brand has officially bid farewell to its Katong home. But you know what they say, when one door closes, another exciting one opens. The restaurant brings its heritage dishes to shopping nexus Orchard Road. Located on level two of Tang Plaza, the venue promises a refined ambience with Sinpopo Brand’s signature dishes you know and love (plus a few new additions!). Here are five exciting things you’ll want to know about Sinpopo Brand’s new Orchard location and culinary offerings.
1. Contemporary vibes with a touch of Katong’s heritage charm
The restaurant seamlessly retains the flavours you loved at the former location with a luxe touch (it is Orchard Road, after all). After your shopping spree, park yourselves here for elegantly-plated local gourmet dishes. Think classics such as sotong hitam with handmade crab tortellini, crayfish curry pho, baked miso cod hor fun and the Sinpopo signature nasi lemak.
2. Affordable set lunch menus, here we come!
An affordable set lunch menu is pretty scarce in the luxurious shopping strip… until now. Sinpopo Brand’s set lunch for four ($110, which works out to $27.50 per pax!) includes two servings of the hearty Auntie Mei’s Salted Vegetable Duck Soup and Smokey Savoy Cabbage, as well as moreish meat dishes like Beef Cheek Rendang, Ayam Bakar, and Sotong Hitam served with steamed jasmine rice. Talk about bang for your buck.
Need a spot for dinner? They’ve got your back with a set dinner menu for two ($58). Whether it’s date night or a catch up with your bestie, savour four scrumptious local dishes including fragrant assam prawn or ladies’ finger and eggplant sambal for your veggie fix.
3. High tea with a local touch
If the hunger pangs kick in before dinner and a simple cuppa coffee just won’t cut it, Sinpopo Brand has a high set with sweet and savoury picks that’ll fill you up nicely. Drop by from 3pm to 5pm for the signature dry mee siam, curry crab and egg white tart and truffle scramble mille feuille.
Don’t forget dessert! Indulge in notable local sweet options like Sinpopo’s new pink coconut cake, ondeh ondeh, bingka ubi and kueh dar dar and gula melaka jelly. If you’re new to the restaurant, you’ll be pleased to know that all desserts are freshly baked and hand-crafted in-house daily.
4. New dishes exclusive to the Orchard opening
The opening calls for a celebration, and what’s one without venue-exclusive dishes? Satiate your appetite with bak kut teh two ways: prime rib in a comforting peppery broth and topped with a battered crust. The fei po char siew (pork belly) is marinated overnight, charred and topped with a house-made sauce. Save room for dessert as you’ll want to order the kueh platter for two, featuring pulut tai tai with coconut sugee, and durian sticky rice with Mao Shan Wang durian puree.
5. Enjoy 1-for-1 deals and discounts
Join the Club Sinpopo rewards program and receive all the goodies. These include a one-for-one welcome voucher for dinner a la carte items and 10% off retail picks during your first visit, a free Sinpopo signature kueh platter for two during your birthday, and a 3% Sinpopo cashback.
