How YOU can help find it!
We think this is pretty amazing. Imagine if this delivers the insight needed to find MH370. Wherever you are in the world, beyond #prayingforMH370 (its passengers and crew), you can actually help and participate in the search. Here’s how!
DigitalGlobe, an earth-imaging company based in Colorado (US), has launched a crowd-sourcing campaign – Tomnod – to help out with the search efforts.
It currently has two satellites monitoring areas (South China Sea and Strait of Malacca) that MH370 has been estimated to crash.
It’s asking people to help by joining a network of computer users, from all over the globe, to examine captured satellite images and spot possible MH370 debris. These high-quality satellite images have been broken down to smaller areas, which volunteers can zoom into (think zooming in like you’re using Google Maps to get a clear street view) and tag a particular area if they think they spot something unusual. The areas, which generate the most tags, will be identified as promising search zones and communicated to relevant authorities.
Get cracking folks, and maybe we’ll hear some good news soon!
