Where to Celebrate Melbourne Cup in Singapore
Melbourne Cup Day is an Australian tradition, one we personally love. An annual event on the first Tuesday in November, it involves race day attire (hats or fascinators a must!), a long boozy lunch, and a flitter at a bet or two. Here’s a round up of Singapore’s cracking Melbourne Cup day events.
ANZA Melbourne Cup Party
Well-known as the only event where you can actually enjoy a punt on the horses, ANZA holds their Melbourne Cup Day event at the track (Singapore Turf Club). Tickets include free-flow sparkling, wine, and beer, a light breakfast on arrival and two-course lunch, fashions on the field, lucky draw, and lots more. This is ANZA’s major fundraiser of the year for Riding for the Disabled Singapore. Don’t forget to board the free shuttle buses to the after party at New Asia Bar. Tickets are $150 for members and $180 for non-members. Buy tickets here.
When: 5 November 2013, 1030am-330pm
Where: Singapore Turf Club, Kranji
Intercontinental Hotel Melbourne Cup Luncheon
Organised by Melissa Connell and Tiffany Maughan, this is a super-sophisticated (yet super-fun) fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House. Expect ladies dressed to the nines, a few blokes, and a loud room of pretend-race goers. Free flow sparkling wine, wine, beer, and a 3-course lunch. Tickets are $180 but sadly we must warn you – tickets are fully sold out.
When: 5 November 2013, 10am-3pm (with an after party following)
Where: The Intercontinental Hotel Singapore
Boomarang Bar & Bistro
Hosted by the lovely Paula Malai Ali (TV presenter for the ESPN star sports channel), Boomarang’s brunch includes free-flow Chandon from 930am to race start, canapés, sit-down brunch, and a fab goodies bag. All races televised live plus the return of the ever-popular fashions on the field parade with great prizes and lucky door gift giveaways. Tickets are $65++.

The Exchange
Stuck in the office on Race Day? No worries. Head over to The Exchange, located in the heart of the CBD, and tuck into a 3-course set lunch ($38++) while you watch the races live on one of their 10 TV screens. Indulge in some G.H. Mumm champagne too, at $88++ per bottle.
