Rising Son, part one of Dick Lee’s Family Trilogy, takes place during the Japanese occupation of Singapore. The play explores the not-so-usual friendship amongst a Singaporean army volunteer, his sister and a Japanese army lawyer. Through this interpretation, Dick Lee hopes audiences will gain insights and a different perspective of life during the war in the 1940s.
