From the Runways of Audi Fashion Festival
On top of the fashion forward frocks at Audi Fashion Festival (AFF), we were also lusting after the gorgeous runway faces. That’s why we tried our hand at recreating the two key looks of AFF 2014 with the expert help of our friends at Luxola – here we go!
At first glance, most of the makeup and hair at AFF 2014 appeared simple and minimalistic (like at Hansel and Ong Shunmugam) – it’s a fresh-faced look with dewy skin. On closer scrutiny, the models’ in Oscar de la Renta’s show were dusted lightly with bronze shadow, which gave their faces a sun-kissed glow.
Get the look: Use Edward Bess’s innovative Complexion Correction Mousse Foundation, which has a super awesome, soufflé-like (and weightless) texture to achieve the veneer of naturally flawless skin. Swipe a little Alima Pure Luminous Shimmer Eyeshadow in Chai over your eyelids and dab 3CE Paint Lip Gloss in Romantic Peach on your lips. For that rested-yet-ready glow, apply a thin layer of DuWop Doubleglow 7 on top of your makeup.
AFF 2014 also showed us that ponytails aren’t just an after-the-gym style. Smooth your hair back with a round brush after blow-drying and spray it with Original & Mineral Queenie Firm Hold Hairspray, then gather your hair and secure with hair tie. Just remember to leave some volume at the crown – sleek doesn’t mean slicked!
A contrasting makeup trend by the official makeup sponsor, NARS Cosmetics, at AFF 2014 is the dark, dramatic eyes with red lippie as seen on the runways of Farah Khan and Thomas Tait. The latter is a little OTT (à la Natalie Portman in Black Swan), but the colours are gorgeously vivid and totally wearable if you tone it down.
Get the look: It’s practically mandatory for dark eye makeup to be accompanied by bold brows, so use smudge-proof Joey Healy Luxe Brow Powder in Tobacco to fill in and subtly emphasize the shape of your eyebrows. We love the highly pigmented Sleek i-Divine Supreme eyeshadow palette – use Smokey Robinson or Shangri-La Lemon as a base and blend in darker shades like R&B and Bronx Black.
To accentuate your eyes further, put on a pair of falsies like the Wildflower Fleur from Lavie Lash (don’t worry, you won’t look like a drag queen with these!). As a finishing touch, we like the brilliantly coloured Edward Bess Deep Shine Lip Gloss in Amor or the Lollipops Glossy Lipstick in Suzy Kiss.
A little birdie told us that the folks at Luxola will be having AFF-themed sales starting next Monday (26 May), so keep an eye out for ’em!
