This multi-functional air purifier promises to minimise the level of air pollutants in your home with style...
News flash: whipping out your N95 masks and air purifiers whenever the haze hits isn’t enough to keep those environmental nasties at bay. They may not be visible to the naked eye, but air pollutants are present everywhere – all year round. Some harmful indoor allergens include mould, dust mites, pollen and pet fur, and prolonged exposure to these tiny particles has been linked to conditions such as heart attacks, strokes and skin ageing (yikes). If you have a history of asthma or eczema, you probably already know that air quality can be a trigger, but it’s actually an issue that’s relevant to everyone.
Get smart about air purifiers
Before you hit the panic button, we found a sleek and multi-functional air purifier which tackles indoor pollution head on. The Dyson Pure Cool uses the latest air purifying technology to improve the air quality in your home, removing harmful particles as small as 0.1 microns.
Filtering the nasties…
Unlike your typical air purifier, this shiny new gadget is designed with a HEPA glass filter that traps 99.95% of these miniscule particles, and they stay trapped inside the filter. Aside from banishing allergens in your environment, the device tackles unpleasant odours as well. Its active carbon filter captures odours and potentially harmful toxins such as paint fumes. More bang for your buck, we say!
… While cooling your home
The Dyson Pure Cool lets you adjust the airflow, rotation and volume. The purifiers settings offer a smooth, long-range airflow while circulating purified air simultaneously and quietly, using an acoustically engineered motor bucket.
All controlled through your phone
The Dyson Pure Cool is equipped with settings that you can personalise on your smartphone via the Dyson Link app on, allowing you to remotely control your environment – whether it’s scheduling the next purification session or monitoring the air quality indoors. Sounds impressive? You bet.
We tried it!
While it boasts heaps of useful functions, the Honeycombers team wondered if we would actually invest in a set. Our client services manager, Yvonne, was game enough to give it a road test:
“I live in an HDB estate where a lot of traditional customs are practised, such as the burning of incense and offerings, which means debris will often enter my home. Aside from trying to keep the home free of indoor pollutants such as mould and dust, we have to grapple with outdoor allergens as well. I’ve got two young toddlers at home and a sensitive nose, so it’s important to keep these under control.
What I liked about Dyson Pure Cool is its streamlined design. The two-in-one fan and air purifier reduces clutter around the house, and the bladeless fan makes it very kid-friendly. It’s a definitely a nice showpiece to have in my living room.
Another great function is its digital display, which shows the air quality at a glance. For example, the app indicated that the pollutant level spiked as dinner was being prepared, prompting the machine to diffuse the room of cooking smells. The air purifier also picked up on scents from cleaning products and detergents, which is a huge bonus!
The Dyson Link app also allows me to monitor the air quality at home remotely. I loved having the option of switching the air purifier on before arriving home as this not only helps minimise our exposure to any allergy triggers, but also conserves energy and saves on massive electricity bills too.
I’m now in the third trimester of my pregnancy, so I’m hypersensitive to these allergens. The Dyson Pure Cool has helped alleviate my allergy symptoms, allowing me to have better sleep. I also feel more at ease knowing that my kids have clean, pollutant-free air at home.”
Her verdict? It’s a heck, yes!
