Red alert! Chanel’s Le Rouge pop-up celebrates Coco Chanel’s iconic shade
Chanel always knows how to make us swoon at its chic pop-ups. This year it’s all about Le Rouge as the luxe French brand pays homage to Mademoiselle Coco’s signature colour. From a new hue for the world’s most iconic perfume, to lips and polish, the pop-up puts the crimson shade in the spotlight and explores it as you’ve never imagined.
Chanel has transformed 72-13 performing arts theatre into a laboratory-theme space split into three different segments (create, encounter and revel) for you to witness red in various textures and forms.
Start your journey at the Red Factory and enter an acrylic red cage. Inside, you’ll find large industrial tanks filled with a fine assemblage of lipsticks and nail polish. You’ll find more hues and textures from the digital wall of moving lips (we just couldn’t help it – had to Boomerang this one). Need more? Just look up and marvel in the giant conveyor belt of iconic N°5 perfume bottles magically turning to red.
It’s no beauty pop-up without trying on some creamy rouge and pearlescent highlighter at the makeup stations. Take it back to 1924 – when Coco Chanel chose an intense vermillion for her first lipstick – and find your own perfect red.
And you know you want to be one of the first to get a glimpse of the Chanel’s Collection Libre 2018 ahead of the holiday season. My pick? The new Rouge Coco Gloss in “Flaming Lips”.
Once you’re ready for your shot, strike a pose at the Red Corridor where you’ll feel like you’ve dived inside the red bottle through an illuminated passageway. Of course, you’ll find the red edition of the N°5 perfume at every corner, along with exclusive collector’s editions in giant 900ml red Baccarat crystal bottles. Psst.. only 55 pieces have been created worldwide.
Finally, vibe in the Red Bar that’s reminiscent of a chic hotel bar and enjoy red concoctions to complete the Chanel experience.
Le Rouge Pop-Up will be open to the public from 17-21 October. Admission is free, but our advice? Reserve a spot for this one, beauty lovers.
