Here’s everything that makes me wanna go back to Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda, from its incredible cityscape view from the plush bed, to a breakfast spread that’s simply sublime.
Ask any Singaporean about their favourite travel destinations, and chances are, Japan ranks high on that list. The land of the rising sun keeps us returning with its shopping, dining, and sightseeing options. Planning a trip? Well, what if I told you there’s a Hilton stay in the heart of Osaka that’s easy (or easier) on the purse strings than the Hilton Osaka? Enter Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda, a modern hotel that promises the same hospitality without the high price tag.
Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda review: A chic stay
The hotel staff greeted me as soon as I set foot out of the elevator doors. The welcome was warm and the ambience modern. The decor was chic with curated bursts of colour and Japanese-inspired elements. By the concierge, rows of lanterns lined the walkway, with a cosy merch store that I reckon would be perfect for last-minute souvenir shopping.
I stayed in the King Canopy Corner Suite and it was nothing short of amazing. Stunning cityscape views? Check. An impressive bathroom (with two sinks, a bathtub, and of course, a toilet fitted with a bidet)? Check. A spacious living area? Check. Amenities felt luxe and came with a planet-friendly touch. Think: water filled in glass jars and grooming supplies stocked in cardboard boxes.
I mean it when I say the room was incredibly comfy. At the end of each day, the toughest decision I had to make was whether to relax in the bathtub, lounge on the comfy couch, or laze on the cosy bed. One of my favourite parts of the room is the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows in the bedroom (along with the plush bed), where I could fall asleep and wake up to the impressive view every day.
Breakfast bliss: Delicious eats that I already miss
The breakfast buffet is one of the things I always look forward to at any hotel stay. And Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda didn’t disappoint. Starting with bakes and light bites: the bread selection ranged from pain au chocolate and croissants to the popular melon pan. Right beside it, there’s a DIY salad bar stocked with the likes of veggies and tofu.
As someone with a morning smoothie habit, I was pleasantly surprised to find a row of freshly made smoothies, sustainably bottled up in small glass jars – yay to having my daily smoothie at this home-away-from-home! And if you’re looking for a fresh brew, you can order coffees and teas too.
Savouries on the buffet aisle included tamagoyaki, grilled salmon, chawanmushi, natto, miso soup and other Japanese eats. If you’re going a la carte, expect dishes like Osaka udon, avo on toast with tamagoyaki, and the classic option of eggs your way.
The menu featured clean, uncomplicated flavours, allowing the freshness of the ingredients to shine through. The compact but well-curated selection features rotational items, so you won’t see the exact same lineup repeated. I’d be happy to wake up early if I could have a morning buffet like this every day…
Breakfast menu aside, I didn’t get the chance to dine at the restaurant for lunch or dinner, but I’ve heard that the food (and view) are stellar. Beyond the hotel, there’s no lack of food options to explore in the mall (more on this below) that the hotel is located in. Foodies, your palate is sure to be satisfied.
