Looking to burn a few calories with a gruelling group work out in Singapore? Push yourself at one of these bootcamps
Oh sure, we’ve all been talking about losing weight and getting into shape for a while, but it’s time to haul that arse back to reality and face the music. It’s time to make a date with your body and whoop it back into shape – but you don’t have to go it alone. Here are some of Singapore’s best boot camps that will help you burn some serious calories while having fun. Probably.
Level
While Level Gym in the heart of the CBD is a slick operation, with top-class instructors and innovative equipment in an oh-so-trendy space, it’s also very accessible and welcoming to all. Level is reserved for personal training and classes only, which means that the stylish, airy gym has lots of space and the instructors can focus carefully on you during your bootcamp workout. Level hosts a variety of interesting, original workouts, which include 30-minute Cole Mine bootcamps, Movement Culture, Under The Bar, Boxing and more.
Level, 137 Telok Ayer Street #01-03, Singapore 068602, +65 6222 4766. Some bootcamps are hosted in Hong Lim Park in the CBD. See their website for more details.

Better Bodies Boot Camp
The six-week boot camp at Better Bodies will get you to your goal – but be prepared to sweat every minute of it. If you’re the sort who needs to be pushed (they’re tough here), this is the boot camp for you. Do note that the training gets increasingly harder, so check out the schedule before you go down; you really don’t want to start in week four.
Better Bodies Boot Camp, Singapore Botanic Gardens and Bukit Timah (National University of Singapore). See website for more details.
Bloom’n Fit
Originally created for mums hoping to get in shape, Melinda Cassidy’s accessible sessions have expanded into popular classes for all types of gals and guys. On top of the ‘Strolltastic’ sessions for mums looking to lose weight, Mel also hosts high-energy sessions for intermediate to advanced levels, called Bodtastic (all over fitness) and Boxtastic (boxing-based).

UFIT Urban Fitness
The great thing about UFIT is they have multiple sessions at various locations every day, so no excuses, especially if you love the great outdoors. Expect a great all-round workout in a fun atmosphere, with an interesting mix of trainers. They take special care of beginners (like having longer recovery time for newbies), so no worries!
UFIT Urban Fitness, Singapore Botanic Gardens, Fort Canning, Holland Village, MacRitchie, Evans Road, and Marina Bay. See website for more details.

OzFit
Whether it’s boxing, yoga, women’s only classes, or good ol’ fashioned high-intensity interval training (HIIT) you’re looking for, OzFit has it all. With a mixture of cardio drills, strength training, and resistance exercises conducted by accredited trainers, you’ll be dropping the post-Christmas lbs in no time. First-timers, fret not: every session is tailored to all levels of fitness so there’s no need to worry if you’re holding up the class.
OzFit, Fort Canning, Sentosa, Singapore Botanic Gardens, East Coast Park, Marina Bay. See website for more details.
Sue Corser
In between smashing PBs at marathons around the world, Sue Corser runs boot camps, boxing and running groups in the Botanic Gardens and Bukit Timah area. Every session includes strength, core and cardio. Hard but fair fun (we promise), Sue cares about your goal, not your excuses. She pulls no punches, is tough and commands discipline but has a loyal following with bodies like ‘pah!’ so her methods work. Be sure to get in early for a spot at her regular sessions.

Rebel Boot Camp
The outdoor boot camp here is split into Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced sections. We (obviously) opted for Beginner – we can’t remember when was the last time we left our desks – and it was actually fun. Just be prepared to get down and dirty with the folks at Rebel Boot Camp. Oh, and they’re so popular they’ve expanded across the border.
Rebel Boot Camp, Kallang, Tanjong Rhu, Marina Bay, Nexus International School, The Rainforest Sports Hub. See website for more details.
Phyzique
The boot camp here is ongoing, so you can join anytime. Train with weights and other gym equipment. Exercises are grouped into upper body, lower body, and core workouts. The great thing about the Phyzique process it that it’s based on time, so you can do as much as you can at your current level of fitness – a good way to tell if there’s any improvement!
Phyzique, Sheraton Towers, Goldhill Avenue, Evans Road, East Coast Park, Katong, and Marina Boulevard. See website for more details.
Ooberfit
This one goes out to all ’em ladies! Voted as the best fitness provider and personal training by Expat Living readers earlier this year, Ooberfit not only provides 1-1 training but they also offer High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) bootcamps that can whip you up into great shape. There are several bootcamps such as ooberExpress, ooberTone, ooberMummy and many more; each with its own focus and is catered for different people. Interestingly, the bootcamps by Ooberfit are typically attended by mums!
