From a sonic cleansing device to a sunset fragrances, these are our favourite beauty buys of the month
Here at Honeycombers HQ every month brings a barrage of new beauty products, and yes, we’re lucky enough to be able to test ‘em all. Ahead, the best makeup, skincare and fragrances we’ve tried and loved for the month of April.
ReFa Cleansing Device
“I’m no stranger to cleansing devices, having had a Clarisonic one for years and years. But I put it down after some time, caving into just using my cleanser. My skin has been really clogged and prone to breakouts so it was time I shook up my routine. Fun fact: Our skin contains positive ions while dirt, grime and oil contains negative ions. The ReFa CLEAR is negatively charged, so it helps to repel dirt deeply ingrained in pores using sonic motion. My skin (especially my blackhead covered nose – sorry TMI) actually looks visibly less clogged now.”

$360, available in departmental stores like Takashimaya, TANGS, Robinsons The Heeren and Robinsons Raffles City, as well as Sephora
Porcelain Face Spa HA+ Hydrating Serum
“If it’s one power-packed serum you need, it’s Porcelain Face Spa’s. The HA+ Hydrating Serum does wonders for your skin; not only does it improve your skin’s moisture by leaps and bounds, it’s also an anti-aging potion, and boost skin’s resilience in fighting environmental pollution. Its powerful ingredients are to thank for its remarkable efficacy; in its formula, you’ll find dual-chained Hyaluronic Acid, antioxidants, probiotics to naturally prevent breakouts as well as a host of hydrating ingredients to plump up skin. I usually apply this after cleansing and toning my skin, making sure to spread evenly on my face and neck. My skin appears brighter, and the fine lines around my cheek area now appear less visible.”

$198, for 30ml, available at Porcelain Face Spa
Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream
“24 hour moisture. Now that’s something my dry skin desperately needs. The secret’s in its Super 7 Complex, which combines seven powerful ingredients including lotus flower extract, blue-green algae extract, and vitamin C and Vitamin E. My skin actually feels soft all day, even in my typically dry patchy cheeks.”

Available at Fresh stores at ION Orchard and Raffles City
Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Liquid Essence
“Everyone needs an essence in their life. I see this as a primer to my serum. The formula is so light and watery, which I love for my oily skin. They say this boosts skin hydration for up to 50% after application. I can’t give you an exact figure of how much my skin is moisturised after use, it’s really restorative – my skin actually feels….juicy. “

Available at Chanel beauty counters and boutiques
Amo Ferragamo
“Every other scent I’ve owned from Ferragamo is the Signorina in different variations. So the Amo Ferragamo makes a nice change. I’d best describe this scent as “glamorous” – it opens with Italian Black Accord, blackcurrant and rosemary. Its heart – like many other Ferragamo scents – is feminine at its heart, with jasmine sambac, mate absolute and rhubarb. Rounding it off nicely is ambrox and sandalwood.”

$212 for 100ml, $158 for 50ml and $111 for 30ml, available at departmental stores, Sasa and Sephora.
Tartelette Toasted palette
“With burnt orange eyeshadow trend is in full bloom, I’ve been busy colouring my lids with these sunset shades. Next to Urban Decay’s Naked Heat palette, the Tartelette Toasted palette is your ticket to a smouldering sunset look. The 12-shade palette comes in warm, pigmented shades, ranging from wearable mattes to incredible shimmers. Neither chalky nor patchy, they blend like a dream, and are perfectly buildable. I’ve been using this almost everyday and always receive compliments!”

$72, available from Sephora
Innisfree Green Tea Mineral Mist
“Lazy girls will love this. If a routine of serums, moisturisers and other viscous liquid is too complex for you, the Innisfree Green Tea Mineral Mist is perfect. Especially in humid Singapore, a light spritz on your face when your skin is feeling dry will soothe the skin and also leave it moisturised. I use it after toning on no-makeup days so I don’t feel like my skin is going to shrivel up in the heat. Man, I just hate humidity.”

$8, available from Innisfree stores islandwide
