2. Samsen

Head over to Samsen, Hong Kong’s authentic Thai noodle house located next to Wan Chai’s iconic heritage building – The Blue House. Created by Chef Adam Cliff and Bella Kong, the restaurant celebrates the bold savoury, sour and spicy flavours of Thai street food, and we are big fans of the rustic interior design. Enjoy your pad Thai noodles with tiger prawns alongside a Thai beer, Thai-style milk tea or a young coconut drink; you’re probably going to need to queue up for this one, folks.

When it comes to Thai restaurants in Wan Chai, Thai Farmer is a humble and small restaurant that serves affordable Thai food – you won’t be able to miss the bright green sign above the entrance. Enjoy classics from the Southeast Asian country including fresh raw prawn salad, steamed lemon fish, spicy garlic crab, and sweet treats like the iconic mango sticky rice. We like the no-fuss setting here.

5. Sawali Club

Sawali Club is technically a members-only private Thai kitchen, but it has been serving both authentic and innovative Thai food to everyone in Hong Kong for over 10 years. Run by a lovely group of Thai ladies, order snacks, soups, stir-fried noodles, seafood dishes and desserts – and expect large portions. Indulge in deep fried tilapia with green mango in a spicy and sour sauce; Thai-style stir-fried vermicelli with vegetables; Thai-style sausages with lime juice and chili; and wash it all down with with some Thai-style iced coffee. Sawali Club also does MSG-free meals and has loads of vegetarian options, which we think is great.
