If you're heading to Singapore for work or play, Sofitel Singapore City Centre is the perfect space to call home-away-from-home.
If you don’t already feel our love for Singapore (the place of our birth!) in your heart, then let us school you. The Lion City is full of cool things to do, happy hours and great food, including these vegetarian restaurants, so you’d better believe we’re happy to jump on a plane there whenever we can. Recently, we stayed at Sofitel Singapore City Centre and fell in love with this beautiful hotel smack-bang in the middle of town. Find out why below.
French chic in the city
I’m sure you probably know the French brand Sofitel, a major player in the hospitality world with hundreds of hotels worldwide. If you haven’t stayed at one of their stunning properties, then I recommend doing so, as they bring the best of French design and service to each of their locations, making them great options for either business or leisure travel.
Sofitel Singapore City Centre is one of the latest openings from the brand worldwide, conveniently located in the heart of the city, and from the moment you are greeted at the entrance, you know you’re in for a pretty special kind of stay. Eye-catching artworks make each floor of the hotel unique and colourful, with a range of pieces from both local and international artists. They even have bespoke colouring books in each guestroom, so you can leave your own masterpiece behind.
What we’re loving at Sofitel Singapore City Centre
Where to start? I was lucky enough to get upgraded to a wonderful room on the top floor with sweeping views of the city, it was also great to be able to see the pool from above, so I could plan my floating sessions in advance!
Complete with a divine bathtub (including a book rest and wine holder) and one of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in, the rooms are generously sized and filled with creature comforts like a coffee machine and a selection of teas.
The gym has a range of equipment suitable for any type of workout, and what makes their fitness game even better is their collaboration with Virgin Active which includes a gym bag in each guestroom filled with workout gear (yoga mat, resistance bands etc) and a booklet guiding you through a range of exercises. You can either do these in your room, or take them outside to the grassy courtyard; the perfect way to start your day. Club floor guests even have access to the adjacent Virgin Fitness Club – Tajong Pagar, which I think is a pretty special touch.
Foodwise, Racines offers both French and Chinese cuisines and serves one of the tastiest breakfast buffets in breakfast buffet history. Guests of the Luxury Club Rooms and Suites have access to Club Millésime, an uber spacious club lounge offering evening wine tastings, cocktails and an array of nibbles throughout the day and night. I loved trying the Sofitel-brand beer that was just delicious and the perfect end to a busy day at work.
But what makes this hotel truly special is the service, with every member of staff going out of their way to assist you at every turn. It seems no job is too big for this high-class team.
Au revoir; I will be back!
