To all the kings, queens, and everyone in between: happy Pride Month! There are so many ways to celebrate queerness this month, from watching your favourite LGBTQ+ movies to hitting the gay bars in town, to catching a stellar performance by your local drag queens. Many businesses in Hong Kong are also joining in on celebrating all things Pride and showing support for the queer community. Whether you’re a member or an ally of the LGBTQ+ community, there’s no such thing as being “too extra” in June – simply enjoy these events during Pride Month in Hong Kong and be your most authentic self!
Pride Month in Hong Kong: Celebrate queerness at these LGBTQ+ events in Hong Kong
1. Dan Ryan’s: Draglicious Friday Night
Welcoming the queer community this Pride Month and beyond, Dan Ryan’s is hosting the Draglicious Friday Night on 30 June,featuring the fabulous drag queens from The DollHouse. Special Pride cocktails will be available all night alongside a three-course dinner to kickstart the festivities. These are followed by dazzling performances by the drag queens, with a break in between for you to participate in a Pride-themed quiz. The party won’t stop there, as there’ll be an afterparty to keep the crowd going. Remember to come in your best rainbow-inspired outfit for a chance to win the Best Dress Award!

2. Eaton HK: It’s Morphing Time
At the forefront of the LGBTQ+ scene in Hong Kong is Eaton HK, who’s putting on a slew of events to celebrate Pride Month in 2023. With the theme of “It’s Morphing Time”, the hotel is inviting the public to embrace queerness and the diverse identities that reject traditional binaries. With over 20 activities including parties, screenings, workshops, and talks, Eaton HK is putting queerness front and centre this Pride Month. You can catch a raucous performance by the Hong Kong Gay Men’s Chorus; attend the Kitty Tsui exhibition and learn about the pioneering lesbian writer and activist; and participate in AIDS quilt making workshops.

3. Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour
Throughout the month of June 2023, get ready for a host of Pride events and installations at Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour. Right at the check-in lobby, you can get your own Pride-inspired picture-perfect moment with a rainbow backdrop and fun props. Another photo op will be available at the rooftop pool’s rainbow wall installation. The Pride influences continue with special rainbow-inspired food items at Cruise Restaurant & Bar and The Farmhouse – you can even get an incredible Pride cake from The Farmhouse Deli! Additionally, continuing Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour’s tradition of showcasing local artists, crocheted Pride flags by Carmen Wong will be displayed in this month’s “Art Centric” exhibition.

4. Lan Kwai Fong Association: Stride for Pride
In partnership with Gay Games Hong Kong, The Lan Kwai Fong Association is putting on the first LGBTQ+ bar crawl in Hong Kong. Taking place on 17 June, “Stride for Pride” will allow participants to enjoy drinks at some of the hottest spots in town including Dead &, Carbon Brews, and Petticoat Lane. What’s more, bar crawlers will gain admission to the afterparty at Petticoat Lane and get to dance the night away to disco hits.
5. Frites: Pride Brunch
Brunch enthusiasts, take note: Frites (Causeway Bay) is hosting a Pride brunch to celebrate all the gays and theys! In addition to delicious food and a fantastic four-hour free flow, the event will be hosted by drag queen Violette Blanche. Additionally, Sounds Familiar Music Quiz will be on the decks while a guest bartender from famous Hong Kong bar The Pontiac will be behind the counter. If that isn’t enough, there are rumours that a secret surprise drag guest may make an appearance…

6. Cordis, Hong Kong
Pride Month is kicking off at Cordis with a series of Pride-inspired events and offerings. Unwind with the one-hour Gentle Flow Yoga Class on 13 June co-hosted by Next Chapter LGBT. Fancy a tipple? The Garage Bar celebrates Pride with rainbow-themed gin and tonics. You’ll be able to take a sip of Pride with the Rainbow Promotion, which runs until 30 June. Award-winning mixologist Jade Lau will also be visiting The Garage Bar for a guest shift on 29 June. Any nuptials in your future? Cordis, Hong Kong is proudly supporting Next Chapter LGBT, a local wedding service agency that specialises in overseas legal LGBTQ+ marriages. An exclusive wedding offering is available for LGBTQ+ wedding dinners at the Star Room, which includes a specially priced Michelin-starred dinner menu and beverage package.

7. Hyatt Regency Hotel, Tsim Sha Tsui
Throughout June 2023, guests at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui will find rainbow stickers with the motto “Stay As You Are” at various points of the lobby. An interactive “Love with Pride” photo spot will also be available for rainbow-inspired snaps. Moreover, the food and beverage team has created a Pride Afternoon Tea Set at the Cafe. Chin Chin Bar is also joining in on the celebration with Pride Cocktails, available in five fab colours.
