If you haven't tried vegan ice cream before, you're missing out big time! #veganfoodporn
From vegan cakes and dairy-free chocolate to acai bowls, vegan desserts are obviously no stranger to healthy peeps in Hong Kong. And what about ice cream? Most known for their unbelievably delicious (and one-of-a-kind) liquid nitrogen ice cream, local ice cream shop Lab Made has launched three exciting vegan flavours in celebration of the anniversary of Green Monday, and as dedicated vegan food lovers, we had to try them out.

Instead of milk and cream, Lab Made incorporates different plant-based milk in their vegan creations, including coconut milk and rice milk, to create a smooth (as silk) and creamy texture.

Just to give you a heads-up, there is legit sticky rice in it! Inspired by traditional Thai mango sticky rice, Lab Made tops their coconuty ice cream with fresh mango. If you’re into Chinese desserts like mango sago, you’ll definitely be impressed by its fascinating gooey texture.
Blended with salted almonds and rice milk, their Dark Choco and Salted Almonds vegan ice cream is quite a tease. It has a rich chocolate flavour with the almonds giving it an extra crunch. We’re sure its indulgent nature will satisfy any vegans who love chocolate.

The Sicilian pistachio option is my favourite. The taste of fresh pistachio adds a real punch to its nutty flavour, making it wonderfully aromatic and fragrant. And needless to say, it’s creamy and thick, nothing less you would expect from a typical pistachio ice cream. We just love it big time!

All vegan options will be available until 27 May, so get in quick. Thankfully, it’s very likely that at least one vegan option will become a permanent item on the menu as Lab Made is more than happy to cater to everyone. (And we hope it’s going to be the pistachio one!)
