Ocean Park opening hours
If you’re planning your trip to Ocean Park, keep in mind that it closes on Tuesdays. On Wednesdays through Mondays, the park is open from 10am to 7pm. And if you want to hit up Water World – Ocean Park’s very own waterpark – know that it closes seasonally during the winter months.
Where to get Ocean Park tickets
1. General admission
In our experience, a day is enough to visit the best rides and zoos. General admission day tickets have three price levels: Adult ($498), Child ($249), and JoyYou Card holders ($100).
Here are our tips to buying Ocean Park tickets:
- Children aged 3 to 11 can enter the park with a Child ticket, but they must be accompanied by someone aged 15 or above
- Children aged below 3 can enter the park for free
- A general admission ticket is valid for 180 days from the date of purchase
- Everyone can enter the park for free on their birthday!
Buy Ocean Park tickets online or from the admission kiosks at the main entrance.
2. Annual membership
If you live in Hong Kong and find yourself heading to Ocean Park multiple times a year, you might want to consider getting an annual membership for year-long access. Plus, you’ll receive benefits like welcome offers, members-only discounts, and birthday privileges. Ocean Park’s annual membership has three price levels: Adult ($1,380), Child ($980), and Student ($980).

3. Ocean FasTrack
Fast pass, quick pass, fastrack… Whatever you want to call it, Ocean FasTrack lets you skip the queue for your fave rides. The Standard FasTrack ($320) can be used at seven designated rides within your visit, while the Pro FasTrack ($580) gives you priority access to most designated rides in the park.
In our opinion, the Ocean FasTrack Standard is worth getting if you’re visiting during peak periods. These mean Christmas, Easter, Lunar New Year, Golden Week in October, and during school summer holidays. If you’re one for min-maxing your theme park experience with roller coaster rides, then the Ocean FasTrack Pro can save you plenty of waiting time.
Zones and in-park transportation in Ocean Park
Ocean Park is built on the side of a mountain, with attractions and experiences spanning from the foot to the top of the hill. The park is divided into two sections: the Waterfront and the Summit. You can get an Ocean Park map at the admission kiosks, or use the online map to make your way around. Look out for these key attractions below!
The Waterfront
Passing through the main entrance will get you to Aqua City, where you’ll find a series of marine and wild animal education centres, cultural experiences, and in-park transportation stations. Next, move on to Amazing Asian Animals, where you’ll find them! Residing in Panda Village are the park’s famous pandas and cute red pandas. Spot them hunkering down on bamboo leaves and lounging around in all their adorable glory! And if you’re visiting with kids, Whiskers Harbour is where you’ll want to be. Most of the park’s kid-friendly rides are here, including a merry-go-round, mini train ride, and a theatre.
The Summit
Head up to the Summit to visit Ocean Park’s very own arctic-themed zone, Polar Adventure, which features a series of rides as well as a restaurant. Adrenaline junkies will love Thrill Mountain, too, as this is where you’ll encounter the scariest rides, like the Hair Raiser!
Sticking with the theme of nature, the Rainforest is where you can take a hike through the Expedition Trail while learning about rainforest ecosystems typically found in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia. Go from land to sea (or rather, the sky) as you reach Marine World, located at Ocean Park’s highest elevation. Here, you’ll find a diverse range of attractions, whether it be thrill rides, carnival games, or educational facilities where you can get up close and personal with several marine animals.
Getting around in Ocean Park
To travel from the bottom to the top of the hill (and back), the Cable Car takes you from Aqua City all the way to Marine World on the Summit. Enjoy sweeping views of the whole park and the Aberdeen waters during your ride! On the other hand, the Ocean Express is a train that transports you from Aqua City to the Rainforest. While the ride is a little less scenic, the queues are usually shorter, making for an extra speedy journey.

Top attractions in Ocean Park
1. Thrill rides and roller coasters
While Ocean Park’s haunted houses are Halloween-exclusive, its thrill rides are available all year round and they guarantee to make you scream! Spread across the whole park, the most popular thrill rides include the Wild Twister in Marine World and the Hair Raiser in Thrill Mountain, while The Rapids in the Rainforest zone offers an adrenaline-pumping cruise down an artificial river. Prepare to get wet in this last one!

Aside from the aforementioned Whiskers Harbour, the Arctic Blast in Polar Adventure is also open to kiddos aged four and above. Additionally, the Ferris Wheel and Ocean Park Tower in Marine World, and Bumper Blaster on Thrill Mountain are also sought-after rides among younger guests.
3. Meet different animals
Panda-mania has taken over Hong Kong since the birth of the giant panda twin cubs on 15 August! While we anticipate seeing the baby pandas in 2025, their parents, Ying Ying and Le Le, continue to entertain us. Give some love to the other animals at the sanctuaries throughout the park, too, ranging from dolphins and penguins, to seals and beautiful Arctic foxes. Finally, getting a glimpse of the majestic sharks and stingrays in the Grand Aquarium is one of the best things to do in Ocean Park, so be sure to put it on your itinerary!
