We speak with the visionary behind Cherry Bobbins, founder of Cherry Bobbins, Cherisse Kofod, to dive deep into what makes this brand tick.
How Cherry Bobbins is revolutionising Hong Kong fashion with inclusivity and sustainability
Q: Congratulations on Cherry Bobbins’ first year! What inspired you to launch the label and what gap do you hope to fill in Hong Kong’s fashion scene?

A: I launched this brand out of personal necessity. Throughout my life, I’ve struggled to find clothing that fits my body shape and that challenge grew when I moved to Hong Kong. I don’t fit standard sized clothing and I quickly realised how limited the options were. Not just for me, but for many women.
The size-inclusive fashion market in Hong Kong is virtually non-existent and there’s also a noticeable gap in sustainable fashion choices. That’s where this brand comes in! It was created to fill that void for all women who have felt excluded, embracing a wider range of body shapes and sizes, and creating space for everyone to feel seen, stylish and confident.
Q: How do your designs specifically ensure every woman feels confident and celebrated, from petite to plus-size?

A: At Cherry Bobbins, our design process starts with the belief that everybody deserves to be celebrated. We don’t simply scale up or down from a standard size, we design with intention for different body types from the very beginning. This means we pay close attention to proportions, fit, and fabric choices to ensure each garment flatters the unique shapes and curves of women, whether they’re petite, plus-size or anywhere in between.
We also incorporate thoughtful design details and adjustable features that enhance comfort without compromising style. Our goal is to make women feel empowered when they put on our clothes, like the pieces were made for them, not just available to them.
Q: How does pin-up culture shape your collections?
A: The bold and vibrant pin-up aesthetic is all about unapologetic confidence, glamour and self-expression, and that’s exactly what we aim to channel through our collections at Cherry Bobbins. Pin-up fashion historically celebrated curves and femininity in a way that was empowering and we’ve modernised that spirit to include all body shapes and sizes. This aesthetic allows us to play with colour, prints and silhouettes in a way that’s joyful, playful, and bold, encouraging women to express their personality through what they wear.
We take the timeless elements we love, flattering cuts, feminine tailoring and thoughtful details, then reinterpret them in ways that suit today’s lifestyle. That means designing pieces that are not only stylish but also functional, comfortable and easy to mix and match. We focus on creating wardrobe staples that nod to the past without feeling like costumes. The goal is to offer women pieces they can wear to work, on the weekend or out for dinner. It’s about blending nostalgia with practicality, so our clothes feel both special and effortlessly wearable.
Q: From the design process to production, tell us more about Cherry Bobbins’ practical approach to sustainability.

A: At Cherry Bobbins, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword, it’s woven into every stage of our process. We design and produce in small, considered batches, allowing us to reduce waste and avoid excess inventory. Instead of chasing constant newness, we release just one to two collections a year, focusing instead on showing our customers how to style each piece in multiple ways.
By producing in smaller runs and prioritising feedback-driven design, we ensure we’re creating garments that people genuinely want, that they’ll wear and love for years, not just a single season. It’s a commitment to quality over quantity and to fashion that respects both people and the planet. Our fabrics are carefully selected not just for their look and feel, but for their longevity and lower environmental impact. We prioritise sustainable, recycled, and natural materials, fabrics that are breathable, comfortable and don’t shed micro-plastics when washed.
Additionally, we say no to single-use plastics! Instead, our garments are packaged in compostable bags and recyclable materials, reducing waste while keeping items safe. By making thoughtful, conscious choices at every stage, we aim to reduce our environmental impact and leave a lighter footprint on the planet. Clothing is essential, but it shouldn’t cost the planet, exploit the people who make it, or exist solely to chase passing trends.
Q: As Cherry Bobbins continues to grow, what’s your ultimate vision for the brand’s impact on fashion inclusivity and sustainability in Hong Kong and beyond?

A: As Cherry Bobbins grows, our vision is to continue helping reshape the fashion landscape by proving that inclusivity and sustainability aren’t trends, they’re necessities. In Hong Kong and beyond, we want to lead by example, showing that fashion can be both beautiful and responsible.
For inclusivity, that means continuing to expand our size range, celebrating diverse body types and challenging industry standards. Ultimately, we want Cherry Bobbins to be a brand that empowers women, respects the planet, and inspires positive change across the fashion industry.
Q: What advice would you like to share with for those who are looking to embrace their unique shape and style with confidence?
1. Choose clothes that celebrate your body. Wear pieces that fit and flatter you, not ones you have to squeeze into or trends that don’t reflect your shape or style. Confidence starts with feeling comfortable.
2. Wear the damn dress. You don’t need a special occasion to feel special. If something in your wardrobe makes you feel incredible, just wear it! Today is the occasion. Celebrate yourself, just because you can.
