1. Aroma Wine Bistro

Aroma Wine Bistro’s happy hour is perfect for those who love pairing wine with friesI’m charmed by Aroma Wine Bistro’s sophisticated European flair. Tucked away in a relatively quiet corner in Causeway Bay, this restaurant doubles as a watering hole for wine connoisseurs. What really sets their happy hour apart for me is the free-flow French fries! The crispiness and saltiness of the golden fries go so well with a glass of medium-bodied red… I’ve found myself thinking about this pairing when I’m laying in bed at night.
Drinks: Free-flow signature French fries with any order of wine by the glass or bottle
Time: 4 – 7pm every day
Address: Shop 206 – 210, Lee Garden 3, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong
2. Que Pasa

Stepping into Que Pasa in Tai Hang, I’m instantly transported to the sun-kissed streets of Barcelona. The atmosphere is always lively, and it’s a great spot to catch up with friends. Their happy hour menu is one of the most wallet-friendly I’ve experienced, with a wide selection available at only $58 per drink. I particularly love the sangria, which is filled to the brim with fresh fruits, and pairs beautifully with their tapas dishes.
Drinks: Sangria, cocktails, beers, house wines, cava, alcohol-free cocktails, spirits, and mixers.
Time: Until 8pm every day
Price: $58 per glass
Address: G/F, 98 Tung Lo Wan Road, Tai Hang, Hong Kong
3. Porterhouse

The newly reopened Porterhouse in California Tower is quickly becoming a happy hour hotspot thanks to its breathtaking views. Happy hour here is a free-flow affair, which is perfect for when you want to settle in for a proper catch up with friends or colleagues. Choose between a one-hour or two-hour package depending on your mood with a wide selection of proseccos, wines, beers, and cocktails. With its convenient location in the heart of Central, it’s become my new favourite spot for post-work socializing.

Address: 24/F, California Tower, 30 – 32 D’Aguilar Street, Central, Hong Kong
4. Toptown

Toptown has one of cheapest happy hours in Central that’s available from 5 to 9pm. The rooftop terrace, with amazing views of the city, is also a major draw. I come here specifically for the weekday “Hotshot Deal” that offers a first drink at only $10.

5. The Daily Tot

As a fan of uniquely themed bars, The Daily Tot on Hollywood Road has always been a standout for me. The Cuban-inspired decor and focus on rum makes a visit here feel like a trip to the Caribbean. The “Thirsty Thursday” happy hour with a 90-minute free-flow allows you to sample as many signature cocktails as possible. I can attest that every drink is thoughtfully crafted and pairs great with their snack menu.

6. Ella

Ella is a hidden gem I love visiting recently. The jazz speakeasy carries an air of allure that makes this a more sophisticated happy hour spot than the casual outlets on this list. On top of reasonably priced classic cocktails and wines, a visit here is extra special on the nights when live music is playing at the bar.
Drinks: Special cocktails and wines, including white or red wine, prosecco, and a classic G&T
Time: Tue – Sat, 6 – 8pm
Price: From $80

7. Yurakucho

Yurakucho is where I go when I crave izakaya-style dishes with my happy hour drink. The two-hour free flow deal offers Japanese favourites like sake, highballs and draft beers as well as scrumptious bar bites. 8. Wav rooftop at Trilogy

Wav is another popular happy hour hotspot with amazing views of Hong Kong. Located on the rooftop of The Trilogy, the space, filled with comfortable cabanas that encourage sprawling rather than sitting, gives the illusion of a tropical holiday. Sip on an icy glass of Aperol Spritz, enjoy a beautiful sunset, and feel the stress of the workday melt away.

9. The Doctor’s Residence by Dr. Fern

As a long-term fan, I’m very excited for the return of Dr. Fern. The new “residence” at The Pottinger maintains the speakeasy’s focus on gin, and brings even more intrigue than the last location with a dark-toned interiors and art-deco styled fixtures. . Step inside for a fantastical “clinic” experience, where bar manager, Babit, doubles as a “physician” who “prescribes” personalised drinks to “treat” your gin deficiency. In addition to the delicious cocktails, I also love the snack menu, particularly the Tempered Tempura, Peach Please salad, and the decadent Codependent Fish Burger.
Drinks: Juju Craft Gin, MG Rosa Gin, Sonbi Gin
Time: Mon – Sun, 5 – 7pm
Price: From $80
Address: 3/F, The Pottinger Hong Kong, 74 Queen’s Road, Central, Hong Kong
10. La Petite Maison (LPM)

LPM has brought a new kind of happy hour to Hong Kong, and I absolutely love the concept. Titled “Cinq a Sept,” the menu pays homage to the French Riviera’s after-work aperitivo tradition. The cocktails are as charming as the theme, each with a playful name and story. The first drink comes with a complimentary bite to start your evening on a scrumptious note. With its romantic interiors and dim lighting, this is a great spot to come for a date or a girls night.
Drinks: La Place Garibaldi, Elle, and La Sucette
Time: 5 – 7pm every day
Price: From $78
Address: H Queen’s, 23 – 29 Stanley Street, Central, Hong Kong
11. Sam Fancy
Whether it’s pre-game, post-dinner, or happy hour drinks, Sam Fancy has your back. This spot is my go-to when my friends and I end up in LKF but aren’t quite feeling the club scene (it’s Hong Kong’s worst-kept secret for those who know!). The vibe strikes the perfect balance: dim lighting, a few neon accents, and an intimate buzz that still lets you get a little rowdy as the night goes on. Want a quieter crowd? Arrive before 7pm for $30 G&Ts and grab a seat on the terrace upstairs. If you’re after something more crafted, I recommend the French Concession – a bold yet bright mix of Porcelain Shanghai Dry Gin, ginger, lemon, and French almond and cherry wine.

12. Hugger Mugger

Have you spotted the mysterious little red door on Wyndham Street? That’s the entrance to Hugger Mugger, a British speakeasy with a happy hour deal you won’t want to miss. The bar’s convenient location and intimate vibe make it one of my favourite pit stops for a tipple before a dinner at the adjacent Chaiwala – followed by a night out on the town.

14. Call Me Al
Just around the corner from our office in the laid-back neighbourhood of Sai Ying Pun, Call Me Al is one of our fave places to go for after-work drinks at Honeycombers Hong Kong. I personally adore its down-to-earth atmosphere, with seating by the window that looks out onto the street. My go-tos during the “Hours of Happiness” are the Call Me Betty – an unbeatably refreshing combo of gin, cucumber, lime, and dill – and the Bourbon Renewal, a well-balanced mixture of creme de cassis, lemon, and Angostura bitters. You’ll catch me adding on a Smashed Burger on peckish evenings.

15. The Stage

Psst – I’ve found a liquid loophole in Wan Chai: The Stage’s 1+1 happy hour deal is arguably the neighbourhood’s best, as it lets you enjoy two drinks for the price of one! I always start with a classic espresso martini (yes, again), followed by something refreshing like the Summertime cocktail. Make sure to stick around after happy hour to catch live music and entertainment at this stylish venue – because jazz and bubbles are a match made in heaven.
What’s the deal: Two for the price of one on all drinks
When: Tue – Sat, 5 – 7pm

16. Cassio

Step into Cassio for a good time – and maybe a long one, because you’re starting early! You may know of Cassio as a popular nightclub, but it’s actually also a classic Central bar and restaurant with one of the city’s best happy hours. Settle into Cassio’s al fresco seating (like I did last visit) and you’ll see why: impeccable service matched with strong, seasonal drinks. The menu rotates, but my current favourites are the Gaias Garden for a floral-sweet fix, and the Pisco de Pandejo for a citrusy crowd-pleaser.
What’s the deal: Three-hour free flow from $300 ; two-hour free flow from $200 ; cocktails from $80
When: Wed – Sat, 6 – 10pm
Address: Cassio, 2/F, Wyndham Social, 33 Wyndham Street, Central, Hong Kong
17. Terrible Baby

Islanders, Terrible Baby is here to lure you across the harbour to the Dark Side, because rarely would you find chic hotel bars offering happy hour deals! Nestled in Eaton HK, this cosy rooftop bar offers quality cocktails and chill vibes for all your imbibing needs. While the chilly weather prevented me from enjoying Terrible Baby’s stunning al fresco area on my last visit, I’ve already made plans to return once Hong Kong’s cold spell passes – that coffee and rum-based Anti-Siesta cocktail has me hooked!
What’s the deal: Cocktails, house wines, and spirits from $68

19. Alibi – Wine Dine and Be Social

In my book, Alibi sets the gold standard for classy cocktails in Mong Kok – a neighbourhood better known for local dive bars. And now, they’ve upped their happy hour game with the “Cheers and Skewers” set! Available from 1 April, the set comes with skewers alongside two chilled draft beers or mocktails – the ultimate “clock-off” combo. Among the spread, I’m most excited to try the Chilli Prawn with Garlic and Lemon Zest, Pancetta Cherry Tomato with Seaweed Salt, and the Rum Raisin Ice Cream Puff for a sweet finish.

20. The Dispensary

Nestled in the historic quarters of Tai Kwun, The Dispensary is a happy hour hideout for barflies in Central. Sandwiched between Cantina and The Chinese Library, the bar boasts a classy yet affordable experience where you can sip on a quality tipple as the sun sets. While I can’t get enough of how The Dispensary’s sleek and vintage interior complements Tai Kwun’s heritage architecture, you’ll often find me camped out on the balcony when the weather’s right.

21. Pier 7 Cafe and Bar

Happy hour by the harbour? Yes, please! Pier 7 Cafe and Bar is where you can enjoy a quality tipple while admiring Hong Kong’s million-dollar skyline. If you’ve got friends visiting, this is the ideal place to showcase the 852’s unique charm; in fact, I always make it a point to stop by before or after my Star Ferry ride. Slide into the sleek, nautical-chic space, get sipping, and let the convos flow. My favourites are the whisky-based Smashed Cucu, and the indulgent and boozy Tiramisu.
What’s the deal: 20% off all drinks
When: 3 – 7pm every day
Address: Pier 7 Cafe and Bar, Shop M, Level R, Central Pier 7, Central, Hong Kong
22. Quinary

Here’s my tip: Want to try Quinary’s cocktails but wish to skip the queue? Come for their happy hour! Not only can you get cocktails at discounted prices, but you can also lounge back comfortably without rubbing shoulders with strangers. Last time I was here, I decided to give the coffee-based Gold and rum-based, honey-flavoured Wax a try (I think my taste is very obvious by now). But if it’s your first time visiting, then the signature Earl Grey Caviar Martini is a must-try.
What’s the deal: Cocktails from $100

Here’s your newest spot to clink glasses high in the sky. Aussie steakhouse Omaroo Grill’s adjoining rooftop bar offers one of Central’s best happy hours – especially for wine lovers. The HH wine list is nothing to scoff at, with a robust selection that’s approachable even to wine-green drinkers like myself. After sampling a few glasses recommended by Omaroo’s staff, I can safely say that every glass has me buzzing and ready to take on the night.

24. Honky Tonks Tavern

Down a corner in Soho awaits a honkin’ good time at Honky Tonks. Here, eating and drinking go hand in hand during happy hour. You won’t go wrong with its house wines and spirits, but I always find Honky’s slushies the best match with its hearty pizza slices. Additionally, every Wednesday is happy hour all day long – truly the best way to celebrate hump day!

Frequently Asked Questions
What time are most happy hours?
Happy hours in Hong Kong commonly occur between 5 and 7pm, but some establishments extend them from 3 to 8pm or even offer them all day on certain days.
How does happy hour work?
Happy hour in Hong Kong typically runs at bars and restaurants, offering discounted drinks (like two-for-one cocktails or half-price beers) and sometimes cheap bar bites. Deals vary by venue – some include wine, others craft cocktails. It’s especially popular in business districts like Central and Wan Chai for post-work unwinding. Check individual spots for exact times and offers.
How much are drinks in Hong Kong?
Drinks in Hong Kong range from HK$40 – 80 for beers at casual pubs, to HK$150 – 250 for cocktails at upscale bars. Happy hour discounts can cut prices by 30 – 50%. Wine by the glass starts around HK$60, while hotel bars and rooftops charge premium rates. Dive bars offer the cheapest options.
Why is happy hour so early?
Happy hour aligns with Hong Kong’s early work finish (typically 6 – 7pm), catering to office crowds unwinding post-shift. Early timing boosts pre-dinner business for bars and maximises weekday revenue before nightlife peaks. It’s also a cultural norm in Asia, where post-work socialising starts sooner than in Western cities.
