In this month's edition of Hot New Cafes: Kith Cafe Winsland House, Choice Cuts Goods + Coffee, House of AnLi Bistro and more
As home to one of the world’s most thriving cafe cultures, Singapore never fails to delight us. A new month always calls for a hunt for new brunch joints and coffee cribs – but it’s a challenge that us Honeycombers fully embrace. From cafes located in vinyl stores and home interior boutiques, to bakeries in the ‘burbs, here’s this month’s list of Hot New Cafes in Singapore.
Mellower Coffee
By now, you’ve probably had multiple renditions of ondeh ondeh (a kind of Malay kueh), including cakes, waffles and ice cream. But ondeh ondeh latte? Now that’s something we haven’t tried. Shanghai-based Mellower Coffee is the purveyor of this newfangled cuppa, which combines the sweetness of coconut and gula melaka (palm sugar) with the punchy, bitter taste of espresso. Also on the menu is an Instagrammer’s dream: Sweet Little Rain, a cotton candy cloud suspended above a steaming cup of Americano. As it melts, little sugar droplets fall into the coffee, lightly sweetening your drink (and probably your day too).

Choice Cuts Goods + Coffee
Founded by longstanding DJ collective, Matteblacc, Choice Cuts Goods + Coffee champions soul music and fresh beans. Come in for a brew and don’t expect to leave in a hurry – you’ll want to wile away the afternoon with the well-stocked racks of vinyls and street merch. We hear the store-slash-cafe frequently organises impromptu vinyl sessions too, so keep clued in by following them on their Instagram page.

House of AnLi Bistro
It’s no secret that we have a soft spot for cosy little coffee nooks. House of AnLi Bistro is exactly that, except it’s far more than just a hidden locale for our caffeine fix. Prior to the addition of the cosy bistro, it was solely a chic home interiors store stocking only exclusive European labels. With its quiet location at Tanglin Mall, it’s perfect for a decadent Sunday brunch of fresh produce and a cuppa (or Champers, if you’re feeling boozy).

Kith Cafe Winsland House
If you’re a huge fan of Kith Cafe’s potent cuppas and huge brunch spreads, you’re in luck: the cafe has recently opened up a new outlet at Winsland House along Penang Road. The new space is an instant mood-lifter, particularly if you’re working ’round the area. Bright and cheery with a large courtyard for kids and furry friends to explore, it features all the best that Kith Cafe has to offer: feel-good vibes and scrumptious fare including wagyu beef burgers, truffle mushroom sandwiches and Cajun scrambled eggs.
Kith Cafe Winsland House, #01-01, Winsland House II, 163 Penang Road, Singapore 238463.
The Bakery by Woodlands Sourdough
Contrary to its name, The Bakery by Woodlands Sourdough is not located in Woodlands (you can heave a sigh of relief now). What started as a humble micro-bakery has now expanded into a quaint cafe in Serene Centre. Breads here are baked fresh daily from Wednesdays to Sundays. Tuck into sammies or toast (the sourdough bread is, naturally, the star of the show here) with a drip coffee on the side. And if you’re looking for a hearty meal, head here on Sundays – that’s when pizza night happens. Bonus points for Halal eaters: this cafe is Muslim-owned.
