Orchard Road is amazing for Christmas lights, but there are other enchanting displays to marvel at in Singapore, including Gardens By The Bay, Clarke Quay and VivoCity
Christmas without twinkly lights and sparkly decorations is like a New Year’s celebration without fireworks, 0r an eggs Benedict without eggs (yes, we’re always hungry). In Singapore, Christmas is a rather grand affair, with streets already adorned with glittering décor even before the crowds hit the stores (think mid-November!) for gift–shopping. So don’t let the stress of the year-end cast a shadow on your festive spirit; take a stroll down these places which are bound to put a smile back on your face!
For spectacularly elaborate Christmas lights that stretch across 3.8km, there’s always Christmas on a Great Street – an annual attraction that lights up Orchard Road. Singapore’s famed shopping belt transforms into a galaxy of colourful twinkling stars, glowing reindeer and luminous Christmas trees. Starting from The Cathay all the way to ION Orchard, this festive route will marvel you with innovative set pieces and decorated mall facades that will be participating in the annual best dressed mall contest. Don’t miss the magical Christmas on A Great Street Light-Up Ceremony on 12 November at Ngee Ann City Plaza!
Gardens By The Bay
Gardens By The Bay is already known for its gorgeous light-up of its Supertrees in the evening. So when it’s the Christmas season, it’s beyond exceptional with the arrival of Christmas Wonderland at this lovely vicinity. Look forward to stunning light displays, magnificent structures, plus more fun and games for the whole family. Last year, The Luminarie, an awe-inspiring light display from Southern Italy graced the Singapore attraction, complete with towering wooden arches studded with 95,000 colorful light bulbs. We’re sure that this year will be just as amazing or even better.
Universal Studios Singapore
Have a taste of what Christmas is like in the movies with Universal Studios Singapore (USS)‘s Santa’s All-Star Christmas. With pyrotechnics, multimedia installations and superb lighting displays, on top of having the choir belting out your favourite Xmas carols, we’ll eat our party hats if the experience doesn’t blow you away.
Besides sipping a few glasses of Champagne, listening to rocking live music and munching on delectable food from reputable restaurants, getting starry-eyed from the glistening Christmas lights is yet another must-do activity at the Singapore River. There’ll usually be Christmas carollers cruising down the river too, truly immersing you in the holiday spirit.
ONEº15 Marina, Sentosa Cove Singapore
For that extra razzle-dazzle, be sure not to miss Singapore’s first and only Boat Light Parade by ONEº15 Marina Club. Each night, over 30 boats – fully decked with electrifying colourful light rays and Christmas ornaments – will sail from ONEº15 Marina Club to the Sentosa Boardwalk and past the VivoCity Promenade. It’s no parade of flying reindeer, but it’s just as magical nonetheless!
