A modern luxury hotel with a touch of heritage? We love! The Clan Hotel’s latest package comes with exclusive keepsakes and a traditional calligraphy workshop – here’s my honest review.
It’s always exciting when hotels spring up in sunny Singapore – I won’t say no to a new excuse for a getaway! The Clan Hotel Singapore is one of the newer luxe hotels in the heart of town in recent years. In 2023, it’s celebrating its second anniversary with The Clan Turns Two – Double The Celebration package. I checked in to review this special stay that was sleek, elegant and came with heritage-rich surprises.
Luxe memories and exclusive keepsakes
Known for being a modern luxury hotel, it’s no surprise that The Clan Hotel Singapore features picture-worthy interiors and beautiful rooms. I stayed at the Grand Premier Room, a remarkable accommodation with a lovely view of the cityscape. And can we talk about its stunning chrome facade? Gorgeous.
But refined spaces aren’t the only thing the hotel has to offer. This stay also features meaningful nods to Singapore’s heritage. As part of the package, I received exclusive keepsakes created by local artisans. There are four hand-drawn postcards created by artist Chen Xi, showcasing the hotel’s iconic design elements and features. The other keepsake was quickly savoured by my family: a batch of The Clan Biscotti, an artisanal pandan gula melaka biscotti, created in partnership with Cheng’s @ 27.
Trying my hand at Chinese calligraphy
The anniversary package also offers a chance to attend The Clan Hotel’s Chinese Calligraphy Workshop, held at the hotel’s beautiful Sky Lounge. This was my first time giving calligraphy a go, so I appreciated the patience of the instructor, Singapore-based calligrapher Corinna Tai. The session lasted one hour and I got to make my own art pieces – the word ‘joy’ in traditional Chinese writing, presented in a wooden glass frame that I brought home.
Even those who aren’t literate in the Chinese language can participate in this workshop, and I highly encourage all guests to give this activity a try. I loved how the hotel provided such an immersive cultural experience as part of the stay – it was intriguing to learn a new form of art, and it felt therapeutic at the same time.
A delectable four-course dinner
Another highlight of this escape? The amazing four-course dinner at Qin Restaurant and Bar – which came with a complimentary drink per pax. The appetiser duo was a hit at my table, featuring chicken liver on baby cos lettuce alongside chilli crab pani puri. Mains were a Kurobata pork schnitzel with sweet and sour sauce, as well as assam bouillabaisse, a seafood medley in an assam broth.
Ending the meal on a sweet note, dessert was a chocolately treat. The delightful banana chocolate entremet and a rich Valrhona chocolate ganache definitely satisfied my cocoa cravings.
If you’re inclined to check out this luxurious escape, be quick ‘cos The Clan Turns Two – Double The Celebration package is available for bookings from now till 24 May 2023 only!
