Looking for a luxury weekend getaway (packed with spas, parties and shopping options) in the heart of Kowloon? Make this Starwood establishment your go-to holiday pick
In a bustling, hustling metropolis like Hong Kong, real estate is at an absolute premium – as evidenced by the towering skyline that we’ve come to love. Naturally, many hotels in the biz attempt to trump one another; and yes, they all vie for our attention while we nail down an accommodation option that suits all our comfort, luxury, treat-us-like-royalty needs without breaking our bank. But admittedly, there is one hotel brand that always adds a glint to our eye. And when that hotel invited us to check into its Utopia of chic vibes, modern décor, superb service and superiorly plush beds, we were quick to yell, “Hell yes!” After all, who could say otherwise to W Hong Kong?
A convenient location
The W Hong Kong is in Kowloon, which is a great location if you are only in Hong Kong for the weekend. With spectacular views gazing across the harbour, the W is positioned so that you can take it all in (rather that just look out to other high rises). It’s a short ferry to the main island or train for 10HKD, or taxi for approx. 50HKD. But the most handy bit of it is this: the hotel is connecting to the amazing Elements shopping mall, which also houses the Airport Express Kowloon station, so you are closer to the airport without having to endure tricky transfers or lost-in-translation moments.

A party haven…always
The W Hotels is known for it’s pool parties, and W Hong Kong is no letdown. With pool BBQs each day from 6pm, and on the weekends from 11am, there is always somewhere to start (or finish) the party when you book in here. And don’t even get us started on WOOBAR, where the party’s always cranked up to 11. We checked in on a Monday and were promptly invited to the hotel’s Monday night fashion market launch event in WOOBAR – these guys just don’t sleep!
A sanctuary for spas and pampering
We’re big fans of the bliss spa brand (come back to Singapore, bliss!), so we were thrilled to see these body healers in W Hong Kong. Sadly, we didn’t have time to try it out this trip, but we did fill the bathtub with bliss bubbles and tried the in-bathroom TV – ’cos that’s mandatory, right? Btw, our room was chock-full of cute little mini bliss shampoos, body wash, body creams and even a bliss loather – obviously, the toiletry bag was a little heavier on the way home. No judgin’.
A diversity of room choices
So this is important in a congested city like Hong Kong – often, hotels here are so tiny that your ensuite doubles up as your cupboard, no joke. W Hong Kong, however, has five room sizes – choose between its Wonderful Room, Spectacular Room, Fabulous Room, Cool Corner Room and Fantastic Suite. We were spoilt by the Fabulous Room, which lived up to its name and was divinely spacious. Needless to say, we were suitably impressed!
We definitely recommend putting the W Hong Kong firmly on the must-stay list. And W, thanks for having us – and as they say, we will be back.
