Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pink Dot?
Pink Dot is Singapore’s flagship LGBTQ+ advocacy event. It started in 2009 as a small gathering and has grown into a massive annual rally where thousands of people wear pink and gather to form a giant "pink dot" to show support for the freedom to love and LGBTQ+ inclusivity.
When and where is Pink Dot 2026 taking place?
This year's edition takes place on 27 June 2026 at Hong Lim Park. For 2026, Pink Dot is pivoting from a traditional single-concert stage layout to a "Village-Style" format. The park will be divided into four themed zones: Love, Grow, Be, and Together, featuring community-led installations, open panel conversations, and interactive activities.
Can foreigners attend Pink Dot?
Under Singapore's Public Order Act, only Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents (PRs) are legally allowed to demonstrate or participate in the rally zones at Speakers’ Corner. Foreigners are not allowed to join the main rally formations, though they can visit the park as general observers outside the cordoned boundaries.
What is Pink Fest and how is it different from Pink Dot?
While Pink Dot is a specific one-day advocacy rally, Pink Fest is a month-long, island-wide creative fringe festival packed with lifestyle events, markets, theater, and parties that run throughout June.
What are the major highlights for Pink Fest 2026?
- Pasar Pink (Weekend Market): Hosted at the brand-new New Bahru creative cluster, featuring local queer-owned businesses, tarot readings, a Proud Pet Parade for furkids, and live wrestling matches.
- Pink Screen: The annual queer film festival, which has moved to its new home at Filmhouse, screening prominent indie films like Queer as Punk.
- Fashion & Runway for All: An open-participation street runway at Design Orchard where anyone can register on the spot to flaunt their style.
- Inclusive Careers Fair: An in-person event where jobseekers connect with prospective inclusive Singapore-based employers.
Does Singapore hold a traditional Pride March?
No. Parades through public streets require police permits that are generally not granted for political or advocacy causes. Instead, Hong Lim Park is the sole legally gazetted space for public assembly regarding LGBTQ+ causes.
