Adorable Home
Live your best life vicariously through this game. You get to have a partner, a clowder of cats and your very own abode, which can be spruced up to your preference. The currency here is love (cute, right?) and you can collect it by doing household chores like bathing your adorable feline friends and preparing food for your bae. Extra points for the visuals and the calming soundtrack – this passive game is perfect if you’re looking for a quick escape from reality.
Adorable Home, available on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
Game of Thrones Beyond The Wall
Winter has come! Game of Thrones fans can finally build their own Night’s Watch team with familiar war heroes like Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen aka Mother of Dragons. The premise is set decades before the events that transpired in the hit series and it all starts with Lord Commander Brynden Rivers going missing. Now it’s your job to unravel the mysteries that lurk beyond the Wall. Who knows? You might just come across frosted zombies colloquially known as White Walkers.
Game of Thrones Beyond The Wall, available on the App Store (iOS) now and Google Play (Android) on 3 April.
Playdead’s Inside
There is no dialogue, instruction or backstory to this grim mobile game. Your faceless character starts off by navigating through a forest filled with guards and killer dogs. What makes this unique is that every scene is intricately built, from specks of dust floating in the air to the sound of the wind blowing through the trees. Through a bit of trial and error, you’ll realise that the game is actually a puzzle-platformer; but to us, it’s a work of art.
Playdead’s Inside, available on the App Store (iOS).
Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition
Fans of the Final Fantasy franchise can have a swing at the 15th edition. Following the same storyline as the OG video game minus the side quests and whatnots, this mobile edition is concise with only 10 chapters. Help Nocti, the crown prince of Lucis, win back his land through a series of battles in this chibi-style game.
Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition, available on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
Monument Valley 1 & 2
If you have an eye for detail, you will appreciate the aesthetic of this award-winning puzzle game. Follow Princess Ida on her journey of self-discovery and help her manoeuvre geometrical monuments, beautiful architecture and mind-bending optical illusions. The sequel sees a mother-daughter duo explore the same fantasy world but with new challenges.
Monument Valley 1 & 2, available on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
Mini Metro
Ever thought of building your own subway line? Well, now you can with Mini Metro. Once you start playing this game, you will realise it’s hard work as you attempt to create the most efficient design for your growing number of riders. Design-wise, it’s minimalistic but you will fall in love with the fact that the map designs are based on real-life locations like New York and London. Build away!
Mini Metro, available on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
PUBG
In the vein of Fortnite, this online multiplayer battle royale game allows you to form teams with other players – perfect for social distancing! Pick your battle mode, choose cool weapons, don your favourite suit and get ready to fight. How do you win? Be the last surviving man or woman! Plus, the scene is always changing with new monthly gameplay.
PUBG, available on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
Tsuki Adventure
If you’re not a true-blue gamer, this mobile game is right up your alley. Tsuki Adventure is about the titular rabbit ditching the corporate world for the serene countryside. This idle game won’t steal your time and brain power; instead, it will help you relax with its lovable characters. All you have to do is buy items for Tsuki from time to time and check his journal for new adventures. It’s like having a virtual pet but without the needy part.
Tsuki Adventure, available on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
Alto’s Odyssey
Snowboard through a captivating desert replete with dazzling graphics. Similar to Sonic the Hedgehog games, the aim of this is to help the main character Alto collect coins as he passes through temples, canyons and sandy terrains amidst unpredictable weather such as sandstorms and wind vortexes. Told you the graphics were impressive!
Alto’s Odyssey, available on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
