If you’re a spice junkie who loves chasing the dragon, well, the dragon is here. Feel the heat with Mofo Chili’s six-course omakase-style pop-up dinner ($60 per person), a one-night-only feast on 18 January 2015 featuring Sulawesi-influenced creations you cannot miss – especially if you like it hot. And we mean very, very hot.
Crafted by Singapore-based sisters Monica and Foi (that’s where the ‘Mofo’ in ‘Mofo Chili’ comes from), Mofo Chili is a homegrown brand of chilli paste that’s Manadonese-inspired (Manado is home to one of the world’s spiciest chillies), lard-free, and both vegetarian and vegan-friendly. The MOFO Spicy Omakaze Pop Up will showcase dishes made with the fiery chilli paste, so look forward to chowing down on items like braised pork belly infused with basil leaves, cakalang (Manadonese shredded smoked skipjack tuna), and gohu (a five-flavoured cucumber picked soup).
Thinking of picking up a jar or two before you make up your mind? There’s no brick and mortar store just yet, but Mofo Chili’s products are stocked at a number of places around Singapore, as well as online. Here’s where you can find them.
