Is tempura your go-to Japanese dish? There’s a prestigious tempura specialty restaurant from Japan that’s just opened its doors in the gourmet dining enclave of Dempsey Hill
Fans of Japanese food in Singapore have it real good considering that our little island is home to sterling Japanese imports like Ramen Keisuke and the Michelin-starred Tsuta, as well as sushi temples like Sushi Jin and Hashida Sushi. And joining the ranks of these culinary exemplars is Osaka’s oldest, and most prestigious, tempura restaurant, Ippoh.
Fifth-generation member of Ippoh’s founding family, Chef Masaru Seki will bring the restaurant’s crispy and delicately-battered Osaka-style tempura to Singapore, utilising the strictest of culinary traditions from 1850. Ippoh’s open concept also allows diners seated at the tempura bar to witness the chef individually frying each piece of tempura – shrimps, fish, vegetables, and other munch-worthy goodies that you can mix altogether in a ten-don rice bowl.

Lunch set menu options are priced at $60-$100, while dinner set menu options are priced from $140-$200. Of course, don’t forget to complement your tempura with the resto’s curated selection of Japanese sakes and beers.
