Skip the ubiquitous malls for the largest gathering of distinctive design-led and highly curated showcases in fashion, accessories, home decor, kidswear and more!
Get excited, peeps, our favourite pop-up event is ba-aack! The Boutiques Fair returns to the Pit Building next month with an impressive lineup of designers showcasing super stylish products – yeow! Mark your calendars for 4 and 5 November, and get down to Boutiques at the Pit Building. Need a reason? We’ve got 10!
1. It’s The Gifting Edition!
The holiday season is almost here, and we can’t think of a better way to escape the shopping madness in Orchard Road. Aptly themed The Gifting Edition, this upcoming Boutiques Fair is a great opportunity to attract that special someone with a one-of-a-kind gem. We love the personalised art from eck&art design studio, the stunning kimonos and kaftans from the wit and the will, and the gorgeous artisan jewellery from Nian – great for the super stylish mum! Oh, and the funky jewels from Ade.G are perfect gifts for the sis. Here’s a tip: follow the event on Facebook or Instagram for regular updates on exclusive launches and designer profiles. You will walk away with all your gifts sorted. Phew!
2. Design-led, highly curated
Curated to a T, Boutiques brings together over 150 brands – the list reads like a design lover’s dream! We will be making a bee-line for the beautiful handcrafted cashmere scarfs of Ayesha (just try and stop us!), and drooling over the stunning Aquariva floaty dresses, while trying to decide on which Kala Pata gifts we will keep for ourselves.
3. It’s a great way to discover new, under-the-radar designers
Can’t make it to the Singapore Fashion Week? There’s still a way to catch up on what’s happening in the local design scene! Held in collaboration with SFW, Boutiques will let you rub shoulders with emerging design talents manning their boutique spaces, like the not-to-be-missed NIDA SHAY, Chi Chi Von Tang and many more. What’s more, the fair features several labels showcased during the fashion event too.
4. There’s a cool, Gentleman’s Club
Don’t miss the Don Draper-sque Gentleman’s Club, hosted by EC Proof and the ever-so-popular Panama hat salon, Hat of Cain. Here, you will find a cool and cosy lounge with whisky tastings and high-end liquor collection sales (we’ll have an Old Fashioned, please!). And with plenty of independent men’s fashion labels at the event, it’s a dapper-style paradise! Don’t miss the handcrafted leather men’s bags from BNVVT which are showing for the first time in Singapore, and stylish leather accessories from Rever. Dads’ and husbands’ presents sorted!
5. Exciting maker sessions
We’re excited about this newbie! Spark off that inner craft child at maker sessions by Bloesem and Hili Studio on 4th and 5th November. From learning how to make macrame pot hangers to crafting wall weavings using a frame loom, you’ll not only walk away with a new skill, but also a handmade keepsake that you personally made too.
6. And loads of fun for the little ones, too
Good news for the kids! Boutiques is flying the family-friendly flag with an interactive Play Space by premium kid’s lifestyle boutique, The Children’s Showcase. It has a foosball table, tonnes of new toys, and also reading and drawing materials that’ll keep them occupied for hours… so you can shop it up at the gorgeous kids store Sea Apple, grab some cool tees at It’s Maximus and browse the cool range of quality kids costumes from Muriel & Mai Play. Also, keep an eye out for Minimal, a sleek gender-neutral childrenswear brand made of organic cotton and bamboo.
7. Bond with the fam, or get inspired
Sure, shopping’s the highlight here, but there are choices aplenty when it comes to spending some quality time with your loved ones. Join the tots at the play area, or bring them along for a mani and pedi sesh at The Nail Social – the nail salon offers relaxing express nail treatments and $10 mini manicures for the kids. Thirsty? Head to the Pop Up Wines’ Champagne and Winebar for a mid-shop tipple with your babe. We will also be looking out for An Uplifted Day and The Mindful Company, both vendors designed to help you find inspiration and live a better life with their range of thoughtful product selection.
8. Gourmet food and drink offerings galore
All that shopping’s bound to make you hungry, so fuel up those engines with mouthwatering bites from popular Peranakan restaurant Violet Oon Singapore and coffee brewed by Cause, Coffee SG and Liberty Coffee. Yum.
9. You’ll be shopping for a good cause
A huge champion of social enterprises, Boutiques supports international and Singapore-based non-profit groups. This edition, Boutiques is supporting a number of charities; check the Boutiques website for more good karma-upping deets. Your support will go a long way!
10. It’s a one-stop gifting fiesta not to be missed
As you can probably already tell, us Honeycombers are huge fans of the Boutiques Fair and, really, what’s not to love? It’s chock-full of cool distinctive designers, delicious food and drinks, fun workshops, and did we mention that there will be tonnes of opportunities to learn all about local and international social causes?
